That brings us to the end of our coverage for the final T20I of the Women's Ashes. Join us tomorrow for plenty of cricketing action. Till then, this is myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) signing off also on behalf of my fellow commentator and good mate Pragadeesh. Goodnight!
Heather Knight (England captain): Feels so good. Talked about trying to win the series yesterday. Pitch was different to what we thought. Usually spin dominates but it was seam today. Have a lot of belief in the side. I thought it was below par (Australia's score). Was a decent deck. That was our worst fielding performance. Credit to the way we went about it. On different days, different people are performing. The crowd lifted us tonight. Really appreciate the support. Still a long way to go. One game at a time.
Alyssa Healy (Australian captain): They played fearless cricket and won. Credit to them. It's the T20 format - when you're not on, you can be pounced upon by teams. We go on to the ODI format which we love. I thought the girls did an outstanding job tonight. Schedule's been quite hectic, girls will enjoy a bit of rest and perhaps some golf.
England Women won by 5 wickets
Alice Capsey 46(23) | Nat Sciver-Brunt 2/31(4) Ellyse Perry 34(25) | Megan Schutt 2/35(3)
England have kept their hopes alive in the multi-format Ashes after defeating Australia by 5 wickets in a rain-curtailed game. Alice Capsey played a brilliant knock towards the latter half of the match and played an instrumental role in taking England over the finish line. Australia had batted well to post a competitive score of 155 but due to rain England just needed 119 to win in 16 overs and they did that with consummate ease.
It was a very good start from the English openers Danni Wyatt and Sophia Dunkley who shared a 39 run stand in just less than 4 overs. Wyatt provided a great start for England as they raced off to 39 in no time. A couple of wickets in quick time brought the Aussies back in the game.
It was Alice Capsey who turned the heat towards the end of the game and ensured England was well within the run chase. Capsey smashed 4 fours and 2 sixes during her blistering knock and it was Daniell Gibson who struck the winning shot. For Australia, Megan Schutt was the pick of the bowlers with a couple to her name.
Alice Capsey (Man of the Match) - It's been unbelievable. Great performance and the series is alive now. They supported me all the way through. It's just a boundary every over and play according to our strengths. I got a backing from the staff and sometimes it comes off and sometimes it doesn't. I have been working hard in the nets
England are still in the hunt to regain the Ashes. They had to huff and puff but in the end, they managed to hold their nerves and win it by 5 wickets. They have also won the T20I series and keeps their hopes alive in the Ashes multi-format series.
13.2 Jess Jonassen to Daniele Gibson, ENGLAND WIN THE SERIES AT THE ICONIC LORD'S.The Women's Ashes is well and truly alive. Quicker through the air on a fuller length, Gibson gets underneath the ball and reverse sweeps it to the left of short third for a boundary
Danielle Gibson, RHB, comes to the crease.
Ashes never fails to amaze and Heather Knight has to make her way back to the pavilion. The pressure of a potential series win for England is showing on them. England still need 2 off 5 deliveries.
13.1 Jess Jonassen to Heather Knight, HUGE APPEAL...UP GOES THE FINGER! Tossed up and it dips in, Knight moves across to sweep but couldn't get underneath the ball. It pins her on his front boot but she wants to check this upstairs
It's pitching in line, impact is umpire's call and it's clipping the off-stump. The on-field decision stands
