Coimbra Knights must be disappointed with this loss which was in their hands for the larger part of the 2nd innings as Miguel Stoman and Junaid Khan were helping their team to safely cross the target before they lost cluster of wickets in the final 4 overs of the innings. Coimbra Knights just had to surrender to the excellent bowling of the opposition and struggled to find boundaries when it was highly required for them to stay in the game. Faisal Bashir and Girish Singh failed to score some quick runs from the final two overs only to see them lose the match by 10 runs.
Fighters CC have done exceptionally well with the ball to restrict the opposition to 70 when they just gave the opponents a target of 81 to chase in the 2nd innings. Rana Sarwar started off well picking 2 wickets inside the powerplay. But it really turned around for their team when Deepu Mansurpuria and Varinder Virk bowled the final 4 overs of the innings giving 20 when 30 was required in as many overs. Virk picked 2 wickets while Mansurpuria got a wicket for himself.
This win helps Fighters get off the mark on the points table and score the crucial two points in ECS Portugal, Cartaxo Leg of this tournament.
Fighters CC have come from nowhere to win this encounter and made it possible for themselves when it seemed like they might face their 2nd defeat in the tournament. Knights were cruising along at a stage but lost the momentum and never looked like they could cross the line in the last few overs as Fighters end the match winnings by 10 runs.
