We've had quite the roller coaster to start off the Vincy Premier League! The Divers were well and truly in the game until the final over, but then, Delorn Johnson pulled off a sensational final over to pull off a victory for the Salt Pond Breakers! Ryshon Williams was there till the end, but he couldn't get the job done!
Unlike the Salt Pond Breakers, there was no one to bat through from the top-order for the Grenadines Divers. They banked on Chadwick Walton, but he was dismissed to a top catch by Ryan John early on. It was a stop-start kind of innings for several of their batters, none of them were able to get going. Asif Hooper was looking good, but a brainfade on his part saw him throw his wicket away.
The SPB bowlers were wayward at times as well. There were a total of 15 extras in the chase, and that helped in reducing the equation quite a lot. However, the Divers failed to bank on it, and so, they fell short by 7 runs.
Delorn Johnson and the Salt Pond Breakers hold their nerve in the end! They claim the first game of the 2023 Vincy Premier League by 5 runs!
