Match summary:
Swieqi United win by 58 runs
Muhammad Ajmal 57 (17) | Muhammad Ajmal 2/4 (1) Suraj Darai 18 (7) | Tanka Kandel 2/35 (2)
Gzira United were always heading for a defeat the minute they lost Suraj Darai. The right-handed opener, who struck a 30-ball 80 in an unsuccessful run-chase the last time these two teams met, seemed to pick up from where he left off the last game, but his innings was cut short after he nicked one through to the keeper off Muhammad Ajmal.
Achal Patel and Tanka Kandel tried to keep the run-chase alive, but the Swieqi United bowlers pressed a lid on them as the run-chase progressed. Both the batters, having played out too many dots, succumbed to scoreboard pressure. It was a case of going through the motions after that, and eventually, Swieqi United completed the double over Gzira United on the day.
