Sydney Sixers 140/7 in 20 overs Mathilda Carmichael 32*(21) | Heather Graham 3/19 Ellyse Perry 24(19) | Amy Smith 3/20
An absolutely nerve wracking finish in the end and it was Kate Peterson who held her nerve to get the single of the final ball of the innings and win the game for the Sixers. The star of the show however was Carmichael as she has led her team to a fantastic win here. It was an absolute nail-biter but the Sixers have emerged triumphant and they will walk back from this away fixture with two points.
Ellyse Perry began the run chase in fine fashion for the Sydney Sixers Women as she played some eye catching shots in the powerplay. She was adjudged lbw though and the pressure started to build on the Sixers as they kept loosing wickets at regular intervals from there onwards. Ashleigh Gardner and Chloe Tryon added valuable runs and kept the scoreboard ticking over. But once they were gone, it seemed like an uphill task for the chasing side.
Mathilda Carmichael kept her cool under tough circumstances and emerged as a hero. The Sixers were also really careful enough to use the power surge at the right moment and they tonked Shabnam Ismail for more than 15 in one over. Kate Peterson also gave valuable company to Mathilda and she scored a crucial 10 runs in the end, which made the difference.
The Hurricanes kept coming back from behind on several occasions in the game as their bowlers fought really hard. They made an absolutely thrilling contest despite having only 140 to defend. Heather Graham was outstanding with her spell as she picked up three wickets for just 19 runs and she added it up with her superb effort with the bat earlier on. Amy Smith also was incredible as she picked up her career best figures of 3/20 in her spell. In the end though what cost the Hurricanes the game was the poor form of Ismail and Strano. Their two strike bowlers took a real tap and leaked runs at critical junctures of the game.

19.6 Molly Strano to Kate Peterson, Peterson takes a few steps and works away the length delivery around middle towards the midwicket region and takes a single to take their side over the finish line. Sydney Sixers win by 3 wickets.
19.5 Molly Strano to Mathilda Carmichael, Carmichael comes down the track and slaps this fuller one a shade outside off, brilliantly fielded by the cover-point fielder but Carmichael still gets over for a single.
Two of two and this is unbelievable drama right at the end of the innings. Can Carmichael win this one for the Sixers.
19.4 Molly Strano to Mathilda Carmichael, that was a flatter and shorter one outside off, cut away past the backward point fielder, fumble in the deep allows them to return for a brace. 2 required off the last 2 deliveries.
19.3 Molly Strano to Kate Peterson, Peterson comes down the track and drills this uppishly down the ground, bounces just short of the long-off fielder, a single taken.
19.2 Molly Strano to Mathilda Carmichael, fuller-length delivery around off, worked away down the ground towards the long on region for a single.
Carmichael starts off with a boundary and that has released the pressure for the Sixers! Strano is under the pump now. Where does she bowl?
