That brings us to the end of our cricketing coverage for the day. Group C action in the European Cricket Championship is set to start on Monday - keep an eye on our tabs for our coverage of the same! This is Rajarshi, signing off. Good night!
They had their moments of scare early on, but Jersey make light work of a run-chase of 106 eventually, thanks to a cracking knock from Josh Lawrenson! The youngster wasn't quite an influential figure with the bat over the course of the tournament, but as it turns out, he stepped up on a major occasion for his side! Asa Tribe, normally a swashbuckler himself, had to resort to playing second fiddle as Lawrenson pierced the gaps and clubbed the ball over the ropes with precision!
The Jersey bowlers did have quite a lot of assistance off the deck early on. Ahmadi and Waqas Khan, sharing the first over amongst themselves due to an injury to Ahmadi, nipped a couple of top-order wickets in it with some really steep bounce. But then began the Josh Lawrenson show, and it kept going till the end. Lawrenson's cut shots were a delight to watch - the ball seemed to find the gap all by itself as soon as it left the flashing blade on most occasions!
Earlier, Belgium were reduced to a mere 41 for 7 with more than 5 overs to go in the innings. The duo of Khurram Cheema and Khalid Ahmadi kept them in the contest, with Cheema taking the first opportunity of skipping down the wicket and belting the ball over the field. He was run out for 43 off the last over, but his impact was enough to take Belgium past 100. They might have rightly been under the impression that they were well and truly in it, more so after the end of the first over, but the game slipped away from them rather quickly.
6.4 Burhan Niaz to Josh Lawrenson, SIX! A fitting end to the game for Jersey as they make their way to the Championship week! Full outside off, Lawrenson got under the trajectory of the ball, thumped it through the line, and cleared long on by a long way! Jersey, champions of Group B, take the summit clash by 8 wickets!
6.3 Burhan Niaz to Josh Lawrenson, banged in short outside off, Lawrenson goes for the pull, but ends up miscuing it towards short mid on
6.2 Burhan Niaz to Josh Lawrenson, SIX! This was a low full toss on leg stump, Lawrenson moved across, swiped this one aerially towards fine leg, and cleared the boundary by some distance! The scores are levelled with that!
6.1 Burhan Niaz to Josh Lawrenson, on a length outside off, cut behind point. The fielder in the deep did well to get a foot and save the boundary. Two taken
