So, that will be all from the rain-curtailed but exciting match from Green Park, Kanpur. Do switch tabs and join us for the second match coming up in around 30 minutes. This is the pair of Rajarshi and Bidipto taking your leave. Keep following Sportskeeda!
Madhav Kaushik (Meerut Mavericks captain): Really pleased with the way we played! That knock by Rituraj Sharma and that spell by Yash Garg were just amazing! We are gelling well as a team and it is showing in our performances. Different players are putting their hand up at different times to get the job done. Hope this run continues for us.
Yash Garg is the Player of the Match! Here is what he has to say.
Yash: I wanted to keep it simple and not take too much pressure on myself. Rinku Singh told me to keep the basics going and not worry too much about the big shots. I play a lot of local matches, so, have some idea about how to bowl these crunch overs.
Sameer Rizvi, Kanpur Superstars captain: I took the wrong decision on going for the pull, could have pushed it for a run. We lost due to that decision. There was a over in between which went for 4 runs and 2 wickets. We had a boundary in that over, could have been 9 runs off it had we played the rest of it out in singles.
79 runs to get in 6 overs would never be an easy target for Kanpur Superstars but they made a match out of it and almost got there! However, the loss of their captain Sameer Rizvi off the last ball of the penultimate over was a massive jolt to their chances.
Sameer played well to score at a strike rate of over 250 but when his team needed 16 more runs off 7 balls, he miscued one and was caught by the keeper! Saurabh Dubey, Rahul Rajpal and Vineet Panwar tried their best to help their team finish on the winning side but could not quite complete the job.
With the ball, it was left-arm spinner Yash Garg who turned it in favour of Meerut Mavericks with figures of 3 for 15 in 2 overs! His couple of overs was the reason why they were able to taste victory today and collect two points from this rain-affected match! Never easy bowling the last over either, but he did a stupendous job on that front too, being a spinner!
So, with this triumph, Meerut move to 8 points from 6 matches but Kanpur stay on 4 points from 7 games.

5.6 Yash Garg to Vineet Panwar, Meerut Mavericks and Yash Garg hold their nerve! Fired in on a good length outside off stump once again, Panwar, having given himself room, could merely club the ball towards deep extra cover for a single. Garg delivers under pressure, and the Mavericks take the game by 4 runs!
So, last ball coming up! Kanpur need 6 runs to win.
5.5 Yash Garg to Vineet Panwar, FOUR! Yash Garg is seething! Good length delivery, fired in outside off, Panwar mistimed this one towards deep extra cover, the fielder from long off raced across and managed to get to the ball, but ended up deflecting it to the ropes!
