Mohammad Rizwan, Multan Sultans captain: They (Karachi Kings) were going well in the first 6 overs and spinners restricted them later important thing is to assess the pitch. The ball was gripping. Target was not much so it helped us feel a bit relaxed while chasing. The plan was to finish in 16-17 overs, but Nabi bowled well.
Babar Azam, Karachi Kings captain: We did not make good use of the middle overs. Were short on runs, probably 30-40 runs short which is why we lost. We were lacking experience with our main bowlers not being available due to injury. There was help for the spinners. Feel happy with the way Rizwan is performing.
Imran Tahir, Player of the Match: I'm feeling very good about my bowling and it is nice to be back in the PSL. Last edition 200 runs were being scored. Was nice to see it grip and turn. People need to realise I'm getting old also (on being asked about celebration). Try talking to all spinners in the group. Believe in giving back, so I share the knowledge with them and hopefully, they can learn something and apply it in their bowling.
We'll have the presentations shortly.
Erin Holland catches up with Tim David: It's nice to have a win under the belt straight away. It's been fun, the boys are energetic, lots of funny characters in the group. He (Rizwan) backs you and it's been really good so far. It's amazing to play here in the PSL!
What a display of utter dominance in all the three departments! Mohammed Rizwan and his team completely justified his decision to bowl first, restrict them to a sizeable total and then get the job done with the bat with minimal hiccups. Multan Sultans had a promising start just like the Karachi Kings but the difference lay in not throwing away the foundation set by the openers. The captain led the way beautifully and just showed yet again why he was named the ICC T20 Cricketer of the Year.
Karachi Kings bowled pretty mediocrely to say the least and not enough opportunities were created when they came out to defend. Nabi was introduced late when the business was almost just a matter of formality. Mohammad Imran and Mohammad taha were expensive of the lot and conceded a total of 62 runs in the 7 overs that they bowled.
So the first points on the table belong to Multan Sultans and they won with 10 balls to spare helped their net run rate as well
Multan Sultans beat Karachi Kings by 7 wickets!
That will be it and David does it in some charisma! Rizwan gives him a hug and that smile has returned on his face
18.2 Mohammad Nabi to Tim David, SIX! GAME, SET AND MATCH! Drops it short, turns into David who sits deep inside the crease, swivels and DISPATCHES it way over deep square-leg fence for a maximum. Excellent start to their campaign, Multan Sultans and they have put the right foot to defend their title here again!
