Mayank Agarwal gets handed the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He takes it across and hands it to the youngsters to pose with the trophy for a photograph. What a moment this, they've truly been a team to beat and showed why exactly when pushed to the back of the wall in the finals.

Mayank Agarwal [Karnataka captain]: Feeling great, feeling amazing actually to win this after a while. Honestly, it's just that, we turned up at crucial moments. Youngsters stepped, we are a team in transition, plenty of the players have made their debut and credit to them for stepping up and putting in performances. It's very interesting period for Karnataka in the last year and a half, keep moving forward. Just unbelievable to be part of the group. Game changing partnership from Smaran and Shrijith, that sort of maturity, dominating from there on talks a lot about their character.

Ravichandran Smaran is the Player of the Match! Here's what he has to say: That's been the plan right from the semi-finals, take the game deep. Me and Shrijit batted a lot, we knew how the wicket was, game plan was to take the game deep. Looked to take the bowlers when we were set, put the pressure back on them. The game plan was to get around 5-6 runs every over, we always looked to bat with intent. Right from the first match, that was the plan, I just looked to stick to that.

Karun Nair [Vidarbha captain]: I'd like to thank everyone who supported us. All of us performed at different stages. I'd like to congratulate the team who were brilliant. Support staff has been excellent, helped us to do well. Still a long season to go, many more games to win. It's a mixture lot of things, we have 20 - 25 runs extra, but they batted well. We looked decent when we came out to bat, but lost wickets are crucial junctures which hurt us. Huge congratulations to Karnataka. Would've been a different story had we kept wickets in hand. Just following my game plan, sticking to that, couple of years of hard work, everything coming together at the right time. Confidence to go out and do well, lot of backing from family, team and everyone around me is working for me.

It turned out to be hard fought contest in the end but Karnataka just about managed to hold their nerves and eke out a run victory to be crowned the champions of the Vijay Hazare Trophy for the fifth time in the tournament’s history. Karnataka lost three early wickets but some exceptional batting from Smaran, Shrijith and Abhinav Manohar helped Karnataka score a massive 348 on the board.

Vidarbha was in the game when Dhruv Shorey was going great guns. A quickfire cameo from Harsh Dubey of 63 towards the latter stages helped Vidarbha stay in the game but in the end it turned out to be a mountain too steep to climb. Yash Rathod and Shorey began well with a 32 run stand. Karun Nair carried on his rich vein of form striking 4 boundaries en route to his knock of 27 before Prasidh Krishna castled him.

Yash Kadam also chipped in with a useful knock of 15 but the required rate kept climbing. Jitesh Sharma was the next man in and the duo shared a good stand with Shorey. Both played some fluent strokes and ensured the required rate didn't climb too much. However after the departure of Jiyesh, the pedal fell off a bit as Shubham Dubey was also dismissed early.

When Shorey departed in the 41st, it seemed done and dusted but Harsh Dubey turned the game around and kept Vidarbha in the chase. He smashed 5 fours and as many sixes. He was eventually dismissed in the penultimate over, handing Karnataka a 36 run win.

48.2 Abhilash Shetty to Harsh Dubey, OUT! KARNATAKA WIN THE VIJAY HAZARE TROPHY FOR THE FIFTH TIME! Joy for the Karnataka players as they hold on to their nerve. Harsh Dubey did gave a scare, but he's not able to pull off a heist here. Change of pace, short into the batter. Dubey went for the pull but skied it and the deep square-leg fielder takes a sitter. Karnataka has now equaled Tamil Nadu in terms of the number of Vijay Hazare Trophy titles!

48.1 Abhilash Shetty to Harsh Dubey, back of a length on middle and leg, Dubey swipes it hard as the fielder gets around at deep backward square-leg and stops it. Dubey doesn't take the single.
