07:16 PM IST: Here's the inevitable - match has been called off due to wet outfield. The rain had finally relented a while back but it had already done enough damage to force the umpires to call it a day after looking at the outfield. The whole ground is still under covers and it would have taken a long time to even get the conditions near to fit for play. The umpires have made the sensible call to call off the game and split the points between both the teams. Time for us to scoot as well, this is Sourabh and Arya taking your leave with a hope to see you around with much better weather conditions, until next time!
06:52 PM IST: Good news folks. The rain has stopped and the groundsmen are back to work. However it will take some considerable amount of time to get the ground match ready but if the rain stays away for a while, we could just get a game in. We will keep you updated.
06:32 PM IST: Not the news we were hoping for to be honest but the radar was always for rain throughout the day. The whole ground is under covers and we have a steady drizzle at the moment. We are unlikely to start anytime soon. The radar isn't great for the remainder of the day as well. Hopefully we can a match in. Fingers crossed for now. We will keep you updated.
Hello and a warm welcome to Sportskeeda's coverage for Match No 7 of the Legend's League Cricket slated to be played between the Konark Suryas Odisha and the Manipal Tigers. The pitches in Jodhpur assisted the spinners so we couldn't see that many high scoring games. Will the trend change as move to Surat for the second leg of the competition? We will have our answers in the next few hours, given rain doesn't play spoilsport. The weather forecast isn't great but hopefully we will get a full game in. In the commentary box today will be the pair of Arya Sekhar Chakraborty and Sourabh Agarwal who will take us through everything that transpires during the course of the encounter. Toss update and team sheets coming up in a while. Don't go anywhere, we should get underway pretty soon.
The level of the third season of LLC has been nothing short of fascinating. It hasn't looked like that the cricketers in action have actually retired from top flight cricket. However their commitment remains exceptional and hopefully we could witness more of the same in today's encounter. Odisha won a nail biting thriller to kick off their campaign against the same oppositions and are currently occupying the second position in the points table with one win in as many matches. Their highest scorer from the opening game against the Manipal Tigers was Irfan Pathan who scored just 18 as they posted a below par score of 104.
However the Manipal Tigers faltered big time with the bat and fell short just a couple of runs. Dan Christian and Obus Pienaar scored 30 odd to almost take their side over the finish line. However it wasn't to be as Irfan Pathan held his nerves and ensured his side won the match by 2 runs. While Konark Suryas Odisha will be confident with the win, the Manipal Tigers shouldn't be too disappointed either given the margin of victory. Both teams will be hoping that the pitch in Surat offers a fair play between bat and ball.
