So, that is it from myself, Karthik Raj as I close out the proceedings from this PSL fixture. There is a lot of cricket coming up tomorrow with the final day of the IND vs AUS, NZ vs SL Tests taking place. Action in the WPL, Legends League and ECL will also go on as usual to keep you all entertained!
Mohammad Akhlaq (Player of the Match): I felt very special when I was told I will be playing today. Tayyab and I realised that the wicket was quite difficult today so we decided to play our natural game. I learnt a lot of things this season.
Imad Wasim (Karachi Kings captain): We should've won the first couple of games. All the games we've won, we've won by big margins. Positives are that the youngsters proved themselves. We gelled together despite being out the tournament and we played for the pride of Karachi. Captaincy puts a lot of pressure especially when your side is losing. Selecting the playing XI is very difficult, we had so many injuries as well. Mohammad Amir got injured, Shoaib Malik had a fever today. Our focus is to give opportunities to emerging talent. Even if we produce one youngster for Pakistan, it would be nice. One thing we lacked was game awareness, about when to attack and when to defend. My performance was okay but if the team is not winning it doesn't matter. It's a team game so yes, I'm doing well personally but it doesn't matter. Hopefully we can come back and do well next year.
Time for the Post-match Presentation!
David Wiese (Lahore Qalandars captain): It wasn't our best performance. Bitterly disappointing to come out here and not give a good performance. (About how the conditions are different in Lahore) Especially on the bowling side here, it is a fair contest. Over here, the wicket is more conducive to better cricket. Just 10-15 % off. Usually Shaheen leading us in, it is a different feel. Yeah, definitely. We did all the hard work to finish in the Top 2. Hopefully, come next game, we can do the fans justice
Imran Tahir: Yeah, it is always nice to finish like this when you have a bad campaign. (About his celebratory runs) I need to be playing in the 11 to do that and unfortunately I didn't get chances. Credit to Tabraiz Shamsi who did well. Won't say this is my favourite PSL but good as a team to finish like this. I had a dream to play all around Pakistan and grateful for the support. My next main event is Guyana and I want to do something special for the Guyanese people!
Fair to say that Lahore Qalandars never turned up right from the first ball of the game. Lahore were always up against the odds chasing 197 for victory and it got worse as Fakhar Zaman top-edged a pull shot off Mohammad Umar to mid-on in the third over. Left-arm seamer, Akif Javed also chipped in as he removed Abdullah Shafique and Kamran Ghulam cheaply in the Powerplay.
After finishing the Powerplay at 31-3, Hussain Talat and Sam Billings tried to stabilize the innings but the Karachi bowlers didn't give anything loose. Billings, in fact, got out to a nothing shot as he edged a short delivery from James Fuller to the keeper in the ninth over. Lahore's skipper on the day, David Wiese promoted himself to No.6 but his opposite number Imad Wasim turned out to be the winner in the mini battle. Imad deceived Wiese with a tossed up delivery as Wiese holed out to long-on. Then, the evergreen Imran Tahir ensured Lahore collapsed to 74-7 as he got rid of Shane Dadswell and Talat in the 13th over.
Things only got worse for Lahore as Rashid Khan got smacked on the helmet by a bouncer from Fuller. Rashid continued to bat for an over but he eventually suffered a delayed concussion and walked off. Meanwhile, Imad came back to castle Dilbar Hussain as he bagged his second wicket. Thereafter, the tail-end duo of Haris Rauf and Zaman Khan had some fun with a few maximums but Mohammad Umar eventually dismissed the former with a well-disguised slower delivery.
18.5 Mohammad Umar to Haris Rauf, CHIPPED AND THE CATCH IS TAKEN! Slower delivery on a length, Rauf runs down and tries to go big but he ends up miscuing it towards extra-cover. James Fuller runs back and takes a nice catch as Lahore Qalandars are bowled out for 110! Rashid Khan will obviously not come out to bat!
Haris Rauf c James Fuller b Mohammad Umar 18 (14b) (4*0 6*2)
18.4 Mohammad Umar to Haris Rauf, short outside-off, Rauf moves across and looks to whack it to the leg-side but he misses it
18.3 Mohammad Umar to Haris Rauf, full and wide of off, Rauf is deep in the crease as he tries to go over extra-cover but he misses it
