Thanks a lot for joining us- Mohul Bhowmick and Sooryanarayanan Sesha- here for this extremely lopsided game in the MLC. MI New York now go ahead to take on Texas Super Kings tomorrow. They have also jumped up to the second position of the league table while the Los Angeles Knight Riders languish at the bottom. Until next time, ciao!
Kieron Pollard,MI New York captain: Our batting performance in the first half of the first innings was unacceptable. Some of the boys are playing at this level for the first time, so it is to be expected. It was lovely of Tim (David) to give us that late push to help us set this total up. I have always maintained that one can either win or lose a game in the first six overs. If you lose too many wickets in that phase, you are always playing catch-up. Games are coming thick and fast, and we go again tomorrow. We cannot bask in this too much and come back again tomorrow to put up a good performance.
Sunil Narine, Los Angeles Knight Riders captain: We had a good first half of the first innings, but that was about it. Not sure where this batting performance came from. We have to move on as quickly as possible. It is a heavy defeat but we need just one good game to come back into form. We will reflect and look into what we did wrong and what we did right.
Tim David is the Player of the Match for his unbeaten 21-ball 48. Here's what he has to say: Definitely enjoyed the second innings. Great to say the boys put in a fantastic bowling performance and our net run-rate went up. At MI for me at the moment it's about finishing the innings. It's a different situation when you bat second. It's tough at times when you don't get a chance. Even more pleasing to go out and contribute. We felt like we left a few runs out there today but it was a fantastic bowling performance. Pleased to get the win and then be smiling at the end of the day.
Nosthush Kenjige (MI New York): It really feels special. Playing here in Dallas itself is a great feeling. And then playing my first game is unreal. We defended really well today. Tim has been exceptional. Even in the previous game he made a quick fifty. It just changes the momentum quickly - instead of 120-130 we ended with 155. So nice to see him hitting it that way, along with Pollard. These guys are legends of the game, they've played for so many years and performed around the world. Having a captain like Pollard is a blessing. More than the conditions I just stuck to the plan. The plan was simple - just hit good lengths and keep it straight. We got a good start and we kept it stead thereon.
MI New York beat Los Angeles Knight Riders by 105 runs!
Tim David 48* (21) | Ehsan Adil 2/7 Nicholas Pooran 38 (37) | Noshtush Kenjige 2/7
MI New York effected an absolute trouncing to Los Angeles Knight Riders here. It was completely unreal the way they managed to beat their opponents by a massive margin of 105 runs. At one stage of the game, earlier in the day, it appeared as if MI New York would struggle to get to 100, let alone 150.
That is when Tim David stepped in and changed the course of the game completely. The momentum was firmly in the hands of MI New York. They started the second innings off by picking the wicket of Martin Guptill in the first over, and it seemed that the Knight Riders just crumbled after that. Unmukt Chand was the sole star for them with his 26 but after him, all the batters and their scores represented a dialling code.
Andre Russell gave some hope to the Knight Riders but as soon as he was gone, it appeared as if the end was nearing. None of the batters of the Knight Riders took up the responsibility to take the game deep bar Chand. A lot was expected from the likes of Guptill, Rossouw and Russell, but they flattered to deceive.
MI New York will be over the moon with this performance of theirs, more so now that they will take on the Texas Super Kings tomorrow. Kieron Pollard shepherded his team extremely well, and his bowlers responded well to him. Seamers Trent Boult, Kagiso Rabada and Ehsan Adil did well with the new ball while spinner Noshtush Kenjige and Pollard himself bagged another couple of wickets.
The Knight Riders did poorly with the bat and ended up being bowled out for just 50, which is the lowest total in the history of the Major League Cricket competition. They need to go back to the drawing board and address the flaws in their lineup. They are a much better side than their recent results suggest.
And that will be that! It is only fitting that Pollard takes the catch as the Knight Riders fold up for a mere 50 runs. They had suffered by getting all out for a low total against Texas in their first game as well.
13.5 Trent Boult to Lockie Ferguson, CLOUGHED HIGH! IT'S ALL OVER! Back of a length delivery honing into the stumps as Ferguson has a wild heave at it. Hits him high on the bat before it balloons high and the skipper runs in from forward square leg to gobble it up. The Knight Riders have been simply annihilated here in Dallas - MI New York win by a whopping 105 runs!
Lockie Ferguson c Kieron Pollard b Trent Boult 0 (1b 0x4 0x6)
Lockie Ferguson, RHB, is the last batter.
And Boult came back strongly to knock Khan's stumps over! Gets his first wicket in this game.
