So, that is it from myself, Karthik Raj and my co-commentator, Mohul Bhowmick as we wrap up the proceedings of this fixture. Stay tuned to Sportskeeda and catch up on the coverage of the T20 Blast game which will start in about 30 minutes time. Until next time, it is a warm good-bye!
Shahrukh Khan (Lyca Kovai Kings skipper): Toss was crucial. It drizzled during the innings break, so the wicket also started to behave better for the batters in the second innings. Have to take instinctive calls. Yudheeswaran played his first game, he has been with us for three years now. Credit goes to him. I have to bowl more and more to get chances at a higher level. (Regarding how Suresh Kumar has grown as a player) The way he has grown as a player, it is something brilliant. He came with a plan to approach the Powerplay overs!
Narayan Jagadeesan (Chepauk Super Gillies skipper): It was seaming around a lot during the Powerplay overs. We should have batted better. We could have showed better intent starting from me. It doesn't matter in T20 cricket whatever the wicket is, you have to show intent. If we had 40-45 runs extra, would have been good. Lokesh Raj played his first match. His lengths, his pace was superb. We went in to win obviously!
V Yudheeswaran (Player of the Match): Knew that I was going to play yesterday. Was planning to bowl dot bails majorly after seeing how Thamarai Kannan operated in the Powerplay. I dedicate this award to my parents!
Time for the Post-match Presentation!
MATCH OVER!
Lyca Kovai Kings won by eight wickets!
Chepauk Super Gillies 126-8 (20) Lyca Kovai Kings 128-2 (16.3)
Sai Sudharsan 64* (43) | J Suresh Kumar 47 (34)
Rahil Shah 4-0-26-1 | Lokesh Raj 4-0-26-1
What a comprehensive eight-wicket victory for Lyca Kovai Kings against the star-studded Chepauk Super Gillies out-fit! The victory was half set-up by the bowling attack as they restricted Chepauk to just 126-8. Lyca Kovai Kings needed a steady start to the chase and they got it from the duo of B Sachin and J Suresh Kumar even the former couldn't find the fence as much. Sachin eventually dragged a slider from Rahil Shah in the final over the Powerplay but it didn't help Chepauk as much!
Suresh Kumar and Sai Sudharsan saw out a couple of overs before they started to open with some lovely strokeplay. Narayan Jagadeesan used as many as seven bowling options but only Rahil Shah and Lokesh Raj managed to provide control. Suresh Kumar got out off Lokesh's bowling in the 14th over as he fell just three short of what would have been a fine fifty. Eventually, Sai Sudharsan finished off the match with Ram Arvindh for company leaving behind 21 balls to spare!
