Vijaykumar Vyshak (Gulbarga Mystics): We are right on the money from the first ball and it continued right though. Someone like Hardik Raj has been bowling really well and improving, which only helps the entire bowling unit. We knew that Mangaluru would come hard at us early on, and, even though Abhilash Shetty went for a few early on, he came back much stronger. KV Aneesh is a fine batter, it was just a matter of time before he came good and I am glad that his promotion up the order did the trick today.

ALL OVER! Gulbarga Mystics have qualified for the semi-finals of the 2023 Maharaja Trophy! They seal an eight wicket win with 27 balls to spare over the Magalore Dragons, who have a lot to ponder about as they watch the next match with bated breath.
After that powerplay where they conceded 50-odd runs in the first innings, the Mystics played not only like the defending champions but also potential back-to-back champions. They fielded excellently in the first innings and bowled to their strengths. When given the chance to bat, they were on the money and absolutely dominated the chase.
Chethan and Aneesh, the two youngsters, understood the task in hand. They took no time in dispatching the loose deliveries away but made sure they took enough singles and doubles to avoid any kind of pressure. The runs started flowing from the first over itself and the flat wicket helped them hit through and across the line as well.
The Dragons didn't bowl too badly, just didn't have any buffer runs to build pressure on the opponents. Chetan got out only in the 11th over, soon after his fifty and Gowtham got Noronha with a peach but till then the platform was set and the required run-rate was well below six.
Aneesh made sure they felt no pressure and picked his deliveries again to hit a few boundaries and kill the chase. The Dragons have now fallen to second-last in the points table with a NRR of -0.544 and are dependent on the Lions to suffer a defeat big enough to send their NRR below this mark.
