That's it for the 40 overs, folks! The match was a bit slow at the start but Lankesh provided a breath-taking tinge to it and it looks like we'd see a lot more of him in the future. Hope you enjoyed the coverage. This is Rudransh and Soorya signing off for Sportskeeda! See ya!
Karun Nair (Mysore Warriors captain who is also now the owner of the Orange Cap): You would dream for that kind of start and for Monish to give us that start - a wicket of the first ball - you wouldn't expect it as a captain. All the bowlers chipped in and bowled with full intensity so really happy. (On Lankesh) He's a local lad from Mysore. He was picked in the talent hunt that they had. Really happy for someone from Mysore to come out on the big stage and perform. He's been hitting the ball really well in practice. As you saw here he has a good (bat) swing. (On Shreesha Achar) I've always been saying, everyone's been putting their hands up when needed and Shreesha's one of them. Going forward we hope whoever gets an opportunity puts their hand up and does well for the team.
Lankesh KS is the Player of the Match for his outstanding unbeaten 68.
End of the match! And that's the perfect shot from the man of the moment! Mysore Warriors clinch the game by seven wickets!
What an innings from Lankesh, just breath-taking stuff in how he took the game on by the scruff of its neck. 141 was always a sub-par score but the Warriors made it look more difficult than that when they lost Samarth and Dhuri early. The former just threw away his wicket for a needless second run while the latter couldn't keep out Arya who got substantial bite in his first over.
Karun Nair played a captain's knock, finding the gaps early and timing it perhaps as good as he as in a long time. His 43 off 25 just put the Warriors on the driving seat and they never had to chase the run-rate, allowing Lankesh to take his time early on.
Nair then nudged Lankesh to use Arya's left-arm angle and the junior obliged, sitting on one knee and slogging a couple of sixes over mid-wicket. Arya went defensive immediately, a sign of the Dragons throwing in the towel. The left-hander had tasted blood and he just didn't stop after that. Gowtham threw part-time spinners and more left-arm spinners at him but nothing worked.
From run-a-ball he had taken the match to comfortable reach for the Warriors. Shoaib Manager supported him well and he finished the game off with more than three overs to spare. Such a clinical win would set the Warriors up for the rest of the tournament. The Dragons didn't do too badly in hindsight. They have a few issues to work on with their batting but they'd know that toss played a massive roll in the game.
16.3 Aditya Goyal to Lankesh KS, FOUR! What a way to finish the game! A fantastic shot to cap off a fantastic innings from Lankesh - slower bouncer at the stumps and he moves aside to make room and stand tall as he upper-cuts it straight over the keeper's head. Directs it perfectly towards the fence as it trickles along the outfield and it brings the curtains down on today's action. Mysore Warriors return to winning ways with a 7-wicket victory!
16.2 Aditya Goyal to Shoaib Manager, slower back of a length delivery outside the off stump. Shoaib waits and opens the face to guide it to deep point
16.1 Aditya Goyal to Shoaib Manager, VERY TIGHT RUN! Very full and tailing into leg stump. Shoaib jams his bat down as it rolls along the mid-wicket region before the fielder charges in from the deep. The batters return for the second and a sharper throw might have well had Shoaib short of his crease!
16.1 Aditya Goyal to Shoaib Manager, WIDE! Loses his line and angles it down the leg-side on a very full length. One less run to score for the Warriors!
Aditya Goyal [2-0-20-0] comes back into the attack
Time out! Odd timing because the match is reaching its close but you have to take that timeout in the 16th over. Just 8 needed off 24 now and two hits would do it. Manager has had the best seat in house but he has done well to give Lankesh strike as much as possible too.
