So that concludes our live coverage of this WBBL game between the Melbourne Renegades Women and the Melbourne Stars Women. This is Soumarya Dutta signing off on behalf of Arya Sekhar Chakraborty. See you soon.
Melbourne Renegades 27/2 in 5.3 overs Hayley Matthews 17*(10) | Kim Garth 2/2
Well, who would have though this at the halfway stage of the innings that the Melbourne Stars will end up winning the contest and too by a margin of 8 runs. They were dead and burried at the haflway stage of the innings but thanks to the rain and an incredible spell by Kim Garth early on in the powerplay, they've snatched a win here in their final game of the competition from the jaws of defeat.
The Renegades got off to a slow start in the first two overs and then lost two huge wickets in one over which pegged them on the backfoot. They well behind the DLS par score at that point of time and the rain came pouring down. The game was reduced to 12 overs a side and they needed 82 when the action commenced again but the rain gods played spoil sport once again and they had to walk off once more having played just 8 balls post the resumption.
The Stars will have been really fortunate today and they will be walking off with some pride as they've ended their campaign with a win. Spare of thought for the Renegades though, as they had their noses well ahead of the game at the halfway stage but fell short by 8 runs courtesy DLS in the end.
Update 15:30 IST, 21:00 local time - There will be no further action due to the rain and the Melbourne Stars have won this game by 8 runs courtesy the DLS.
The Renegades are still behind the DLS par score at the moment and the Melbourne Stars will win this contest if the rain doesn't recede here.
The Seagulls are pouring in to the ground but so is the rain again! The players are walking off again and the covers are coming on.
5.3 Sasha Moloney to Hayley Matthews, FOUR! Aerial backfoot punch and off to the fence yet again. Shorter a tad outside off, sat up nicely and Matthews rocks back and lifts this over the cover-point fielder and it races away to the fence.
5.2 Sasha Moloney to Hayley Matthews, FOUR! That was a slowish short of a length delivery a shade outside off, Mathews throws her hands at that and the outside edge flies past the short third man fielder and it races away to the fence.
5.1 Sasha Moloney to Hayley Matthews, Matthews goes for the inside out stroke of a length delivery a tad outside off, gets beaten.
