Lots of runs on this surface, there is grass on this surface which will allow the batters to play the shots. 164 is the average score here, feel like they will need to get a lot more. Commentary

With this win, MI Cape Town climb to the top of the points table. The late order strikes might have prevented them for securing the bonus point but overall, it is a performance that the management will be quite satisfied with. For the Royals, there is some contemplation to do. Remember, these two sides meet again in less than 48 hours from now. The reverse fixture will be played at Boland Park on January 15th. Rashid Khan (MI Cape Town): "Brilliant win for us. It was great to have a full stadium and to win in front of them. After they had that powerplay, the way the bowlers came back was pleasing to see. Something I love the most about this team is the hunger. That gives me so much satisfaction. When there was pressure on, the senior players stepped up and deliver. I bowled a few bad deliveries in the first over. Soon, I got it in my area and then tried to keep it there."

David Miller (Paarl Royals Captain): "Very disappointed. The way the guys batted towards the end was encouraging and even the way our openers batted. But the way we capitulated in the middle was disappointing. We will have to talk about the options we took. It all comes down to execution. It is T20 cricket, the run rate goes up and you need to take the risky options. I thought we could have chased it. But it is just two games into the tournament. Hopefully we will turn it around."

Many times over the course of the last two seasons, the MI Cape Town fans flocked to the stadium in huge numbers and vehemently supported their team — only to go back home disappointed. But the third edition has kicked off on the right note for them. In the opening game, their team toppled over the two time defending champions — a side they had never defeated before. And now, in the first home game of the season, they have registered a comprehensive win, which takes them to the top of the points table.

About an hour ago, not many would have thought that they will go on to win this, let alone by such a comfortable margin. The score they put up batting first was under-par according to the statistics of the previous two seasons. Plus the Royals were off to a rollicking start. Joe Root scored a brisk 14-ball-26 and the prodigal teenager at the other end registered an even better 12-ball-26, slamming T20 veterans Boult and Rashid Khan around. But eventually the MICT bowlers put their class on display and pulled things back in an extraordinary manner.

Kagiso Rabada started it all. He delivered two consecutive wicket maidens. Soon, the Royals went from 53/1 in 5 overs to 69/5 in at the end of the 10th. The aspirations of a win were hence thrown out of the window. However, a resurgent knock of 34 (off 21 balls) from Mujeeb ur Rahman, who registered his highest T20 score ever, and a few strikes from Kwena Maphaka towards the end, ensured that the visitors do not concede the bonus point.
