So, that is it from myself, Karthik Raj as I wrap up the coverage of this fixture. Do stay tuned to Sportskeeda with a lot more cricket coming up today. There is the Ashes, the 2nd WI-IND ODI, the Zim Afro T10 Final and so much more. Until next time, it is a warm good-bye!
Nicholas Pooran (MI New York captain): Message was all about replicating yesterday's performance. It was a team performance, everyone contributed. The openers got a start, we consolidated later on. David was exceptional and then Wiese finished it off. (About Nosthush Kenjige not bowling in the game) It was about match-ups. He wasn't needed tonight. Been exceptional in the tournament and hopefully he will come good in the Final! (Regarding Dewald Brevis' performances) He is maturing nicely and we are happy to have him in our line-up!
Faf du Plessis (Texas Super Kings captain): Right throughout the tournament, our batting has been below-par and that starts with myself. Batting, it was like scratched ourselves to totals in most games. We got to a good position in the second innings but they have a strong middle-order too. When pitches outside at the nets are different to the ones we play on, it is difficult to adjust and work on certain things. You can't bat like in an ODI game, there is always pressure to score runs. First ten overs, needed to dominate the Powerplay especially. Second ten overs, the damage gets done. So, it is about playing the first part better. There is always a death bowler you can target and one side is shorter, so you can always catch up. The fans have been amazing throughout the tournament. Thank you everyone for coming through!
Trent Boult, Player of the Match: Nice to come back here and they were great conditions. It was a great fight yesterday from the boys to defend an under-par total. (On knowing the opposition players very well) Seems to be playing against these guys regularly for a while. It is exciting to move into the final in a couple of days. There is a lot of experience on their side too. There were clear words spoken and we chased it well here. The body is all good. Finals cricket, every niggle seems to go out of the window. Looking forward
MATCH OVER!
MI New York won by six wickets!
Texas Super Kings 158-10 (20) MI New York 162-4 (19)
Dewald Brevis 41* (33) | Shayan Jahangir 36 (18)
Calvin Savage 4-0-27-1 | Rusty Theron 2-0-12-1
What a fantastic win for MI New York as they advance to the final where they will face Seattle Orcas. Chasing 159 for victory on this track was going to be tricky and it turned out to be so but MINY held their nerve in the end.
MINY got off to a slow start with debutant Slade van Staden struggling to get going. His misery was put an end by Rusty Theron as he deceived the youngster with a slower delivery in the fourth over. However, Shayan Jahangir ensured that the team didn't fail to capitalize on the field restrictions as he took on Gerald Coetzee with aplomb. Just as it seemed like MINY will finish the Powerplay in style, Shayan miscued an attempted big shot off Calvin Savage to Daniel Sams at deep square-leg. Thereafter, Dewald Brevis joined the skipper Nicholas Pooran and started to rebuild in a steady manner.
TSK got slightly ahead when Sams came back into the attack and trapped Nicholas Pooran with a dipping yorker. The pressure continued to build on MINY as Mohammad Mohsin and Sams bowled defensively to frustrate the batters. However, the game changed on its head when David and Brevis struck a six each in the 15th over bowled by Mitchell Santner. David struck three more sixes before being dismissed by Mohsin. Then, David Wiese came in and batted sensibly to eat away at the target while Brevis started to open up at the other end. With just 12 needed off 12 balls, TSK got a final chance when Wiese sliced a full delivery from Sams to deep backward point but Mohsin dropped the catch! There was no looking back after that as Weise smacked a six off the very next delivery while Brevis struck a boundary through mid-wicket to seal the game with an over to spare!
