That brings us to the end of our coverage of the first US Masters T10 game of the day. The second one will be underway in about 10 minutes' time. Click here to follow our coverage of the same! This is Rajarshi - signing off on behalf of Maanas for the time being. See you in the next one!
Harbhajan Singh, Morrisville Unity captain: Nice to get a victory out of this game. Nice to have sunshine and starting the game with a positive frame of mind. I couldn't bowl which was a bit sad but happy that everyone chipped in. We just need to take it one game at a time and continue to play the kind of brand we have set for the team. Every individual is like a captain for the team and they're taking responsibility and delivering when the team needs them to deliver.
Obus Pienaar is the Player Of The Match! Here's what he has to say: Just a little bit of luck, hitting the ball quite nicely and it's coming out nice. It seems like the sun's coming out, so we can play more consistent cricket and be there mentally. The guys played a bit of golf, some guys went shopping, they got their stuff done, so now we can focus on our cricket.
Suresh Raina (California Knights captain): I think we should have put more runs on the board. When you're playing an 8 o'clock game with the breeze around the ground it's tough. You have to take your catches. (On Finch) He's been batting really well along with Jacques Kallis. Finchy's been in really good form and is a really good captain also. He's always giving us tips. Hopefully we'll come back stronger. That's what T10 is all about. Hopefully we'll have a good game tomorrow.
Match summary:
Morrisville Unity win by 7 wickets with 7 balls to spare
Well, Anderson makes light work of the equation eventually! The former New Zealand all-rounder lined the off-spin of Ashley Nurse to perfection, looked to hit across the line, and while he didn't quite meet all of them right, the short boundary on the line side, doubled with the brute force Anderson possesses, got the job done for his side! He finishes with a 5-ball cameo of 21, and Unity were home and dry with time to spare!
Parthiv Patel and Chris Gayle got Unity off to a comfortable start, finding the boundaries by exploiting the gaps on the off side. Gayle then looked to tee off, clubbing Nurse for a maximum over long on, before the offie came back and trapped him in front. Patel departed the next over itself, and that slowed things down momentarily. Obus Pienaar joined Shehan Jayasuriya in the middle, and the duo went on to provide some stability.
Having got his team to a fairly decent position going into the penultimate over, Jayasuriya fell, trapped in front by Suyal. That only paved the way for a brief, but extremely effective display of fireworks from Anderson as he clubbed Nurse across the leg side to bring up the win.
8.5 Ashley Nurse to Corey Anderson, FOUR! THAT IS THAT! Simple game for Corey Anderson! Fired full outside the off stump and Anderson slogs across the line yet again. Powers it flat to place it wide of deep mid-wicket as it crosses the ropes on the bounce upon evading the fielder. Morrisville Unity win by 7 wickets with as many deliveries to spare!
8.4 Ashley Nurse to Corey Anderson, SKIED...FOR SIX! He's in a hurry now! Back of a length on off stump and this was the best delivery of the lot. Anderson rocks back and gives it the full heave-ho. Balloons it a mile into the sky but gets enough muscle on it to go the full distance as well
Ah, never mind Pienaar, Anderson is in on the act! Tell you what, this might be over in this over itself!
8.3 Ashley Nurse to Corey Anderson, FOUR! JUST SHORT! Not middled this time as Nurse goes very full outside the off stump. Anderson sits on one knee again and slogs it wide of mid-on. Right into the gap between long on and deep mid-wicket as it just falls shy of the ropes
8.2 Ashley Nurse to Corey Anderson, LAUNCHED INTO THE STANDS! A rank full toss just outside the off stump and Anderson latches onto it. Slogs it a mile over mid-wicket and dumps it into the stands
