Commentary

Well, hasn't the tournament come to life! We have been witnesses to a bit of history being made today. First up, we saw USA upset Pakistan in a match that went down to a super over. Now here, we saw Scotland go past Namibia, a team they had never beaten before in T20I cricket. With their game against England washed out, Scotland now have a genuine opportunity to finish second in the group and advance to the Super Eights. Namibia, on the other hand, will have to do a bit better than this. They seemed to be too reliant on their skipper Gerhard Erasmus. Others need to step up too for the team to do well in the tournament. On that note, it is time to bid you goodbye. It was the pair of Darpan Tikiya and Pragadeesh describing the action for this match. We would be back again in about 15 hours time when Canada lock horns with Ireland in Match 13 of the tournament.

Matthew Cross (Scotland Vice Captain): (On why Berrington hasn't turned up for the interview) He has a bit of a cramp. So I am filling in. Good to win a game against Namibia. Yeah, (Bradley) Currie has been really good. He has been picking up wickets for us regularly. I don't care what that celebration is and where does it come from. But as long as he is taking wickets, I am fine with it. Leask is the kind of guy who can definitely talk and he will tonight after this performance. We have to take one game at a a time. We have a game against Oman who are a very good team and then the big one against Australia. We are currently thinking about the next one in a couple of days time and then we will see from there.

Gerhard Erasmus (Namibia Captain): Definitely hurts. It is a big rivalry between us. At the world cup you especially want to win. I thought that it was a par score. But I don't know now. We were scratchy in the field. The balance of the side has definitely changed (with JJ Smit getting injured) but it is an opportunity for rest of the guys to step up.

Michael Leask (Player of the Match): Yeah, it means a lot. A lot of people have come and watched us. Just repaid the faith of who came and watched us. It's a hell of a feeling and I don't think you are going to get over that for a little while. This one feels special. We have two more big games to go and let's see. My role is simple -Hit the ball hard in the gap and loved the way it came off. Yeah, we wanted to put them under pressure on the field by hitting it in the gaps

This is the first time ever that Scotland have beaten Namibia in a T20I. They looked purposeful from the off set. Their bowlers were largely disciplined and kept the pressure on by bowling tight lines and lengths throughout the first innings. Namibia kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. However, an intent-full knock from their skipper help them put a defendable score on the board.

Having seen the surface play out the way it did and keeping in mind Namibia's strength with the new ball, Scotland started off being a little circumspect. They were watchful and ensured that there was minimal damage against the new ball. Jones and McMullen, then started playing their shots and pushing the run rate. However, once again Namibia came back on the back of a good performance by their captain. Erasmus dismissed both ominous looking batters.

But then, it was time for Scotland's skipper to step up. Berrington and Leask got together to stitch a partnership. It wasn't long before Leask hit the top gear and started unfurling the big shots. One of them was a hoick to midwicket that brought him a 101 metre six. While Leask fell just just a yard before the finish line, Berrington did the formalities. The captain smashed a six to finish things off.
