It turned out to be a pretty convincing win for the home team Netherlands as they started with a thoroughly convincing all-round performance against Scotland in the first match of the tri-series. After getting to a more than competitive score of 167 in their allotted 20 overs, the Netherlands bowlers came out all guns blazing and wrecked the top order, reducing them to 16/3.

Vivian Kingma and Logan van Beek bowled brilliantly with the new ball. They moved the ball and stuck to a good length and bagged the wickets of Michael Jones, Ollie Hairs and Charlie Tear in the opening burst. It looked absolutely dead and buried for Scotland when Richie Berrington and Matthew Cross came together and stitched together a vital partnership to get them back in the game.

The duo took their time initially and once set, they started taking on the opposition bowlers. They scored at a pretty brisk rate which allowed them to keep up with the asking rate. A 66 run partnership brought them well and truly back in the game and that is when Daniel Doram, the debutant made a massive impact. The wicket of Berrington started a slide for Scotland.

They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and it turned out to be a rather tame end to the game. Cross scored a 32 ball 49 which included three fours and as many sixes while Berrington chipped in with a 29 ball 39 which was studded with four fours and a six. Vivian Kingma and Logan van Beek came back strongly in their second spell and finished with four and three wickets respectively. It was Kingma who cleaned up Bradley Currey to hand a 41 run win to Netherlands.

Currie, caught on the crease, played all around this one and was pinged on the pad.
