So that's that from this contest - short but sweet eventually as the wait after all that rain and inclement weather was worth it. The Triton's are on the board and will look to build on this while the Warriors seek to bounce back quickly. Three more games lined up tomorrow - all rescheduled ones owing to the number of washouts we've had. Will the weather be kind to us tomorrow at least? Do join us to find out right here on Sportskeeda while keeping yourselves updated with all the other cricketing news and action from around the world. For the moment, this is the duo of Rajarshi Das and Sooryanarayanan Sesha wishing you a great week ahead as we take your leave. Thank you so much for tuning into our coverage - good night and see you soon!
Gautam Gambhir (New Jersey Triton's captain): (What was the talk about?) Nothing - when you have the target in front of you, you just go out and express yourself. What Jesse did was quite brilliant. I thought at one stage we might have given 15-20 too many. We thought of keeping them to 65-70. That's the format of T10 though - you can go out and express yourself. (On Ryder) He's been very consistent - not just in T10 but he's done it for a long time for New Zealand. He's got that experience.
Jesse Ryder is the Player of the Match for his stunning innings of 49!
Match summary:
New Jersey Tritons win by 9 wickets with 2 balls to spare
Well, we sure did have a short dose of cricket after all that wait, and it was definitely worth the wait if you're into watching a white cricket ball sail over fences and stands on a regular basis! While Christopher Barnwell went for 27 in the over that he bowled, he more than made up for it with a 28-run cameo, laced with four towering sixes, and turned out to be instrumental in leading his team past the line!
The foundation was laid by Jess Ryder early on. Chasing 85 in 5 overs, the Tritons were in need of a strong start, and the former New Zealand left-handed opener went on to provide them with just that. It was a display of the most elegant hitting of a cricket ball you'd see, Ryder, in his 12-ball stay, felt at ease finding and clearing the ropes. He brought the equation close to two runs a ball once he departed.
After that, it turned out to be the Christopher Barnwell show. While Umaid Asif troubled him with the cutters and slower ones in the first three deliveries of the penultimate over, Barnwell bounced back, and how! A couple of towering sixes saw the target being brought down to single figures, and Yusuf Pathan went on to apply the finishing touches with two muscular blows!
Doesn't matter - Yusuf Pathan, having witnessed a lot of carnage from the other end, decides to get in on the act and finish things off by himself! The Tritons are home and dry with time to spare!
4.4 Abdul Razzaq to Yusuf Pathan, SIX! DONE. AND. DUSTED! Why bring the fielders up to save the single when you know how this man operates? Nothing would have mattered - least of all when it's in the slot outside the off stump. Yusuf obliges with another monstrous swing across the line to watch it tower over the mid-wicket fence as the curtains come down on this byte-sized run-fest. After all the wait, New Jersey Triton's win by 9 wickets with two deliveries to spare!
Gee whiz, how far did that one go?! The scores are level, the field is up to save the single...
4.3 Abdul Razzaq to Yusuf Pathan, SIX! MY GOODNESS THAT IS ENORMOUS! A wretched juicy full toss outside the off stump and Yusuf will never spare those. Uses his long leaves to heave it across the line and send it flying a mile back over the mid-wicket fence to level the scores!
4.2 Abdul Razzaq to Chris Barnwell, into the block hole this time. Barnwell can only jam it out towards long on as he jogs a run
4.1 Abdul Razzaq to Yusuf Pathan, aims for the wide yorker as it comes out as a low full toss. Yusuf leans forward looking to smear it through the covers but ends up dragging it to long on instead
