Pitch Report
It is used pitch but it still looks really good with a bit of cracks on it. With the way the pitch is expected to behave, we could see the faster bowlers in play

That brings us to the end of the day's play. We will be back again tomorrow at 10:30 AM IST for Day 2 of this test match. Till then, it is a good bye from us (Sourabh and Soumarya) and the entire team. See ya!
An even day (by the looks of it) headlined by 29-year old debutant Kamran Ghulam's hundred comes to an end as both the teams walk off the field in the fading light at Multan. Well, Pakistan have scored just the 259 in the entirety of the 90 overs and I say just because we know what England can do with bats in their hands and that is why if this day was even or not will only be decided when England have a bat on it as well.
The post-tea session was started by Kamran Ghulam and Saud Shakeel with the latter arriving at the crease just an over before the tea break. England bowlers, pacers to be specific, had discovered some reverse swing before tea and skipper Stokes gave them the ball straightaway. Carse and Potts ran in with steam and made the old-ball talk getting it to tail in late and made batting tough for the hosts.
Shakeel nicked off to Carse before a fidgety-looking Rizwan arrived at the crease. Both Ghulam and Rizwan had a few nervy moments at the crease as the ball went past the edges multiple times, it even took Rizwan's edge through to the keeper once, but England did not hear the edge. However, they survived the spell and as soon as spin came in the form of Bashir and Leach, gears were switched and the runs started coming as the batters looked much more comfortable.
Kamran Ghulam managed to go past the 100-run mark, a historic moment for him, becoming only the 13th Pakistani batter to do so on debut and it looked like both him and Rizwan would see Pakistan to stumps. But then, Stokes took the second new ball at the 80-over mark and even though his pacers could not breakthrough, the first over of spin from Bashir saw Ghulam run down to one and miss a straight one to get castled.
That was a big blow that perhaps tilted the scales in the favor of England (only time will tell, again). Rizwan and Salman then batted through till stumps without any major discomfort.

89.6 Jack Leach to Mohammad Rizwan, tossed up and on off stump. Rizwan gets forward and blocks it solidly. It will be a dot ball to end the day. Pakistan end the day on 259/5 in 90 overs.
89.5 Jack Leach to Mohammad Rizwan, fuller and around the middle stump line. Rizwan presses forward and defends. No run.
89.4 Jack Leach to Mohammad Rizwan, flighted up and around middle stump line. Rizwan pushes it back to the bowler. No run.
89.3 Jack Leach to Mohammad Rizwan, short and wide outside the line of off stump. Rizwan cuts it away towards point. No run.
89.2 Jack Leach to Mohammad Rizwan, FOURRRRRR! SHOT! It was fuller and around the middle stump line. Rizwan comes down the pitch and pushes it away past the mid on region for a boundary.
89.1 Jack Leach to Mohammad Rizwan, angled into the line of off stump. Rizwan presses forward and defends that one. No run.
Bashir's work for the day is done as he takes his cap (or the hat) from the umpire. Last over of the day coming up!
