The target of 109 runs was never supposed to bother the table-toppers. The only chance for the Tuskers was to get some early wickets and hope that it sends some shivers in the Panthers' dressing room. But skipper D Rohit ensured that there was no need for any panic. He went on the top gear right from the outset and smashed the Tuskers bowlers all around the park. His quickfire half-century ensured that the opponents had no chance to come back to the game.
Yash Jadhav was the silent partner for the most part of that innings. But once Rohit fell, Jadhav took up the reins and ensured that the target was chased down without any further casualty. He played a brilliant hand of 37 and finished the game with a big hit.
None of the Tuskers bowlers could bring about any semblance of control into the proceedings. But the game was really lost in the first phase of the game where their batters failed to make any impact. An above-par total was required to challenge the formidable Panthers batting line-up but that never got materialized.
With this victory, Panthers storm through to the knockout phase sitting pretty at the top of the table. Tuskers, who had to win this game to progress into the next stage, complete the league phase at the bottom of the table.
