That's all from us then! This is Soumarya Dutta, signing off on behalf of Karthik Raj. See you soon!
Shadab Khan, Islamabad United captain - We knew that Hasan Ali is a match winner and created the chances for us and brought us back into the competition. I got the wicket and I brought in Mubasir and there was a clear plan behind that. It's a good headache for us to have(about Alex Hales) and it's good to have some bench strength. Special mention to Asif Ali, who is incredibly consistent for us and has been our biggest match winner and highest run scorer.
Hasan Ali, Player of the match - I'm a bit emotional right now but I've been working hard in the nets and it's the result of that! I would like to thank the team management, especially Azhar Mehmood who backed me to win the game for the team. Would also like to thank my wife for her constant support. The situation today suited me and I think the captain backed me a lot. The juniors really stood by my side and thankful to them for that.
Babar Azam (Peshawar Zalmi captain): Thought the pitch had more runs in it. We lost back-to-back wickets off Hasan Ali's bowling. The momentum was lost there and it was too late to recover. We have started well but not finished well. We have started well in all the games so far. There are a lot of positives so far including the momentum Mohammad Haris has been providing in the Powerplay. Bowling wasn't great and we missed our chances in the field during the first six overs. If we took those chances, the situation might have been different.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz: It was amazing. After the kind of start they have, the way he bowled was outstanding. That's why we came back into the match. Really happy to be here. I don't mind whether the boundary is short or long, I just tried to play my natural game. Was not as easy a pitch. It was gripping for the spinners and also for the pacers.
Islamabad United 159/4 in 14.5 overs Rahmanullah Gurbaz 62(31) | Usman Qadir 1/50 Rassie van der Dussen 42(29) | Arshad Iqbal 1/38
Right so, the Islamabad United have finished things off in style and it has been an absolutely emphatic performance from them! They never looked to be in any trouble during the course of the chase and went all guns blazing right from the very first over! Gurbaz and Rassie lit up the run chase and they tore apart the bowlers in the powerplay. They kept going after the bowlers even after the powerplay and Gurbaz ended up with a match winning knock of 62. Once he and van der Dussen were dimissed Asif Ali and Azam Khan put up a breezy partnership and finished things off in style.
The Peshawar Zalmi lost the game in the powerplay itself as they ended up conceding 80+ in the powerplay. The seamers failed to make use of the surface like their united counterparts and spinners went for too many runs as Van der dussen and Gurbaz went after them. They did get a couple of wickets towards the end, but it was mere consolation as the damage had already been done.
Right so, the Islamabad United have registered a thumping win and they've made a real statement here! Their confidence will be really high after this dominating win and they will look to carry forward the momentum for the remainder of the competition. The Peshawar Zalmi will have a lot to worry about as their batters have been guilty of putting up lackluster batting performances for a couple of games now. They will have to sort their issues with the bat and get their act together before the next game.
14.5 Arshad Iqbal to Azam Khan, AZAM FINISHES IT OFF WITH SWAG!! WHAT A SHOT!! Length delivery, Azam moves across and whips it way over deep mid-wicket for a maximum. So much skill in Azam! So, that is that as Islamabad United wrap up a six-wicket victory with 31 balls to spare!
14.4 Arshad Iqbal to Azam Khan, length delivery outside-off, Azam steps down and drives it on the up as the ball falls in front of mid-off. No run
14.3 Arshad Iqbal to Azam Khan, JUST AWAY!! Short and quick, Azam looks to pull but he changes his mind and looks to sway away, The ball hits the bat and lobs over mid-wicket. Two runs taken
14.2 Arshad Iqbal to Asif Ali, short again, Asif pulls it in front of square for a single
