That's all from us then! We hope you enjoyed our coverage of this BPL game between Sylhet Strikers and Rangpur Riders. This is Soumarya Dutta signing off, on behalf of Karthik Raj. See you soon.
Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Player of the Match: Yeah, it was a flat track, need to be disciplined. If you give even a little bit of width, it will be a boundary. I noticed Mash bhai was bowling slower ball from around the wicket and the batsmen couldn't connect. So, I did the same
Nurul Hasan Sohan: We tried out best but hard luck. Need to give credit to my team-mates, the team management. I missed the delivery, if it was a six, would have been a different history. They supported us a lot. We are a young side and played as a team. The coaching staff worked really hard with us
Rangpur Riders 163/8 in 20 overs Rony Talukdar 66(52) | Luke Wood 3/34 Nurul Hasan 33(24) | Tanzim Hasan Sakib 2/19
What an unbelievable victory for the Sylhet Strikers! They've snatched this out from the jaws of defeat! It was Rangpur's game when it headed in the last 4 overs but they couldn't hold their nerves. Rony Talukdar and skipper Nurul Hasan played really well and got them into a winning position. However the duo departed in back to back overs and that made the equation really tricky. Earlier Nicholas Pooran played a dazzling cameo of 30 runs to entertain the crowd before he was caught in the deep.
The Sylhet bowlers took some blows but they came back and did it in some style. Young Tanzim was incredible under pressure as he ended up with figures of 2/19 in four overs. Mashrafe Mortaza rotated his bowlers really well and he deserves a lot of credit for that. Luke Wood was sensational with the ball as it was his penultimate over that changed the course of the game. He was expensive early on but held his nerve to come back well and picked up 3 wickets for 33 runs. Not to forget the contribution of makeshift keeper Zakir who ran out Rony Talukdar , which turned out to be a game changing moment.
The playoffs are done then and we had an absolute thriller here today. In the end it's the Sylhet Strikers who are the deserving winners and they will join the Comilla Victorians for the finals.
