So that will be all from this BPL match - the Eliminator - at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. But do check out all that is happening around the cricketing world today by switching tabs, including India Women taking on Pakistan Women, in the Women's T20 World Cup. That match begins in an hour-and-a-half from now. This is the pair of Bidipto and Srivathsa saying goodbye. Keep following Sportskeeda!
Nurul Hasan, Rangpur Riders captain: The boys played really well and we performed incredibly as a team today! The wicket was a good one, so we backed ourselves to chase the runs down. Whichever team we face next, we will back ourselves to win against them.
Shamim Hossain has been adjudged the Player of the Match! Here is what he has to say.
Shamim: I had the belief to score runs today, would have been happier though had I finished it off. We could have done better in terms of partnerships, but it means we can improve on that in the next game. On the whole, I'm happy. I was waiting for an innings like this. I am hungry for more!
Shakib Al Hasan, Fortune Barishal captain: The position we were in, we should have got 15-20 more runs, yes. We could not bat the way we wanted in the last 5 overs. It was a good batting wicket and we tried hard to defend out score, but unfortunately, could not make it happen in the end. We expected a lot more, but sadly, even after trying hard, could not progress further.
Rangpur Riders win by 4 wickets!
Shamim Hossain 71 (51) | Dasun Shanaka - 2/23 Mehidy Hasan Miraz 69 (48) | Khaled Ahmed - 2/24
A fantastic chase from Rangpur who held their nerve with Mahedi Hasan finishing it off. The celebrations from Mahedi who hit threw his helmet and hit it with his bat after the winning runs was a sight to behold for his team.
Earlier Fortune started well with Shakib taking a wicket-maiden but Rony Talukdar and Shamim Hossain rebuilt the innings.
The left-handed Shamim started the onslaught against Pretorius and the last three overs of the powerplay produced 47 after the first 3 just gave them 8.
Shamim continued on and made a magnificent 71 filled with classy shots but Khaled Ahmed brought Fortune back with wickets of Shamim and Pooran.
But Shanaka and Mahedi got together and kept their nerve to take their side home.
Fortune are knocked out as a result while Rangpur go to Qualifier 2 to have a chance to go to the final.
Stay tuned for the post-match presentation...
19.3 Kamrul Islam to Mahedi Hasan, FOUR RUNS! AND THAT IS THAT! RANGPUR RIDERS GET THE WIN WITH THREE BALLS TO SPARE! Good length ball on off, Mahedi goes forward a touch and swings across the line. He gets a thick outside edge on it. The ball then flies down to the left of third man, giving the fielder no chance of stopping it! Rangpur are through to Qualifier 2!
19.2 Kamrul Islam to Mahedi Hasan, FOUR RUNS! Full and slow on off, Mahedi goes across to off-stump again. He brings out the lap-scoop and connects superbly! The ball flies over short fine-leg to roll into the boundary!
19.1 Kamrul Islam to Dasun Shanaka, full toss on off, Shanaka hits it hard, but down to long-on for a single only! That was an opportunity to hit it over deep mid-wicket!
Tense faces all around - 8 needed off the final over and Shanaka on strike. Rangpur favorites.
