Match summary:
Royal Strikers win by 68 runs
Priyan Pushparajan 49(18) | Savio Thomas 4/12 (2) Ajo John 14(11) | Tony Thomas 2/34 (2)
The Red Stars were never really in the game over that second innings. The only good passage of play that they had was the one going into the final over of the first innings, but a blistering 11-ball 29-run cameo from Ashwin Raju took all the momentum away from them. The Red Stars has to chase a good 20 runs more than what they anticipated, they needed a solid start to get going....they were far from getting one.
Sobu George found the boundary in the first over, but he, along with a couple others were dismissed in the second over - all by one bowler - Savio Thomas. The right-armer sucked all the momentum out of the chase right then and there, and from then on, the Stars were always going to be second best. Ajo John and Tony Thomas provided a brief resistance, but a mix-up saw the partnership come to an end.
The chase meandered along at a slow pace as the Strikers took their time in bowling their overs. They weren't too worried about the penalty due to time - they had plenty of runs in the bank. The Red Stars line-up ran out of proper batters soon enough, tailenders came and went, and eventually, they were bowled out with a couple of deliveries remaining.
9.4 Clinto Paul to Abhin Raj, OUT! That's the last wicket, the Red Stars have been bowled out for 74! Pitched up outside off stump, Raj has a hoick at it, the ball takes the upper slice of the blade, flies up towards cover, three fielders converge, one of them calls for it clearly and takes the catch! The Royal Strikers claim this one by a massive margin of 68 runs!
Abhin Raj c Priyan Pushparajan b Clinto Paul 2 (5b, 0x4, 0x6)
9.3 Clinto Paul to Abin Sabu, pushed towards the mid on region, just one
9.2 Clinto Paul to Abin Sabu, full outside off, Sabu looks to dab at it, but misses
9.1 Clinto Paul to Abhin Raj, the bouncer on leg stump! Raj somehow fends it towards square leg and crosses over
Clinto Paul, right-arm medium, comes into the attack
Looks like the issue with the scores haven't been resolved. The Red Stars need 73 off two overs - 12 sixes will take the game to a golden ball....
7.3 Chamkaur Singh to Jimmy James, OUT! Pitched up, wide outside off stump, James has a swing, gets a faint tickle, and the keeper makes no mistake
Jimmy James c Chanjal Sudarsanan b Chamkaur Singh 12 (10b, 1x4, 1x6)
