MATCH RESULT
Southern Crusaders win by eight wickets
Royal Strikers 140/3 (10) Southern Crusaders 141/2 (9)
Basil George 70* (33) | Affy Khan 30* (10)
Oh!! Southern Crusaders win with an over to spare as they are awarded five penalty points for Royal Strikers' slow over-rate. Just a stunning match here as the Crusaders advance to the final! It was always going to be a heist to chase 141 in a knock-out match but the Crusaders have done it with Basil George leading the charge.
Basil went hard from the word go as the asking rate required an attacking intent. His opening partner Adeel Latheef, however, struggled as he chew up a lot of dot balls before being trapped in front by Priyan Pushparajan in the fifth over. Mithila Avishka was promoted to No.3 but his 13-run cameo was cut shot by Anil Alocious who castled him in the sixth over. Thereafter, the duo of George and Affy Khan wrecked havoc as they started to smash the Royal Strikers' bowlers to all parts of the ground. The Strikers didn't help themselves as they were not disciplined at all with extras accounting for 16. This also included the five penalty runs which was awarded at the end of the ninth over when the Crusaders required five runs off the last six balls.
