Match Summary: Scotland XI beat Luxembourg by 7 wickets.
Taimoor Ahmad 55* (18) | Michael English 2/6 (2) Vikram Vijh 23 (13) | Momand Milad 2/29 (2)
A thoroughly dominating show with the bat from the Scots. They're finally off the mark in the ECC 2023 and this could well be the killer blow dealt to Luxembourg. They put on a great show with the bat and while they left a few runs out there given how they were placed, even that might not have made that big of a difference looking at how the Scots have dominated proceedings.
Michael English got the team off to a blistering start even as a couple of quick wickets fell at the other end with Momand Milad breaking the game open. In walked Taimoor Ahmad though and with the Scots determined to continue taking the attack to the bowlers, it was sheer carnage on display thereafter.
The first over produced 11 runs and as it turned out, it was the most economical over of the innings of the ones that were completed. Tells you a lot doesn't it? Taimoor and English tore into the bowlers and dispatched them over the fence at will. Luxembourg had no answer to what had hit them and before they knew it, the doors had slammed shut on them for good. English, who enjoyed a fabulous outing across departments, wasn't able to finish it off but Taimoor sure did and did so in style, raising a half-century in the process.
This results in Luxembourg remaining winless after three attempts and only a miracle can now take them through to the knockouts. As for Scotland, they will hope that this win is just the catalyzer they need going forward in the tournament and they will hope that they have one foot in the knockouts as a result of coming out on the right side of this four-pointer.
And that is that! Done and dusted in style and the Scots are finally on the board. It has been one heck of a display with the bat and they've thoroughly bossed things here in Cartama. And it's a fifty as well for Taimoor! What a way to seal things!
7.1 Mohit Dixit to Taimoor Ahmad, SIX RUNS! SCOTLAND XI WIN THEIR FIRST MATCH! Full and in the slot on off-and-middle. Taimoor swings through the line and gets it from the middle of the bat over long-on for a maximum! Taimoor Ahmad also brings up a match-winning fifty in the process!
Luxembourg are about to be put out of their misery very soon here. They've taken a real hammering with the ball for all their efforts with the bat. Scotland are just four runs away now.

6.6 Ankush Nanda to Christopher McBride, DISPATCHED! SIX RUNS! Short on off-stump. Slammed off the back foot over deep mid-wicket for a flat maximum here!
6.5 Ankush Nanda to Taimoor Ahmad, full and slow on leg-stump. Flicked to deep mid-wicket off the pads for a single.
Really touch and go but the benefit of doubt goes in favor of the batter.
6.4 Ankush Nanda to Taimoor Ahmad, WELL TAKEN! OR IS IT? NO, NOT OUT! Good length slower ball on off-stump. A mistimed hoick off the front foot to long-on. The fielder did well to reach forward with the slide and took the catch inches off the ground but the replays showed that there was no conclusive evidence of the fingers under the ball!
