Match summary:
Samp Army Cocrico Cavaliers win by 8 wickets with 9 balls to spare
Amir Jangoo 50*(27) | Shaaron Lewis 2/3 (2) Dejourn Charles 35(18) | Ansil Bhagan 1/5 (2)
Thanks to a brilliantly paced innings from skipper Amir Jangoo, the Samp Army Cocrico Cavaliers had the run-chase covered for the most part of it. The Soca Kings spinners, like their Cavaliers counterparts, did a good job in keeping the runs tied down in the middle overs, but the target was too low for them to make a major difference to the eventual outcome. The start to the innings turned out to be the biggest difference between the two sides; while the Kings lost 3 for 6 in their first 3 overs, the Cavaliers had almost half the required runs in theirs.
Amir Jangoo set the tone right away by taking Chadeon Raymond apart completely. The left-handed wicketkeeper smashed 16 out of the 17 off the first over itself, and along with his opening partner, Cephas Cooper, made merry in the powerplay. The flow of runs were hampered just a but after Cooper's dismissal, and with Ansil Bhagan and Nicholas Ali going for very few in the middle overs, a prospect of the Soca Kings making a dramatic comeback in the game didn't seem far away.
Jangoo, though, had it covered all along. While there wasn't much intent from him in terms of running between the wickets, he more than made up for it with his boundary-hitting abilities. Taking the game slightly deep, Jangoo, alongside Hackett, ensured that the job got done. Their equipment beared the brunt of their sheer delight, as they threw everything away and joined their jubilant team in the celebrations.
8.3 Djourn Charles to Sion Hackett, SIX! THE CAVALIERS ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF THE 4TH EDITION OF THE DREAM 11 TRINDAD T10! Off-pace delivery on a good length, Hackett charges down the track and wallops it over long-on for a maximum
8.2 Djourn Charles to Amir Jangoo, works the length delivery towards backward point for a single
8.1 Djourn Charles to Sion Hackett, yorker length angling in, Hackett swings and gets an inside edge down to short fine leg. The umpire signals it as a leg-bye
Why run hard when you can fetch the runs in boundaries! Jangoo must have had the same idea, and has ensured that his team gets within touching distance of the target at hand!
