Commentary

Right! West Indies can point fingers at two moments and say those were pivotal for them to win the series in the end. Yes, Shepherd's last over onslaught off Rabada's bowling and Joseph's triple strike in the penultimate over were really the standout moments for them. South Africa would be disappointed to lose the series but they will be proud of their fighting effort.

West Indies players are jumping in joy having a trophy in their hands and posing for Shutterbugs. This series provided enough entertainment, thrills and spills throughout if you are a neutral fan. Rovman Powell (West Indies Captain): Guys were disappointed after the last game. Shepherd and Alzarri batted well and the way Alzarri bowled was pleasing to see. I pushed the team in the direction that I wanted to go. I wanted them to be fearless and at the same time be smart. Chasing 250 was the rare game and we knew if we put South Africa under pressure we can come out on top. To get 200 you need a good start, Mayers and King have been doing this all season. South Africa is a nice place for fast bowlers and I am happy with how Joseph bowled. It was a toss-up between myself, Reifer and Cottrell and I went to Reifer because he was a left-arm pacer and can nail the yorkers at will

Johnson Charles (Player of the Series) - I am very happy. To come back after 6 years and getting the man of the series is very good. It's a very nice feeling. I keep playing all around the world and that helps me a lot. For me, just managed to work on the basics and not to try to overhit and at the end of the day it worked. I am going to take the Centurion bat to the Caribbean

Alzarri Joseph is the Player of the Match. Here's what he has to say: We made a good total so it was up to the bowlers to defend it. It's always good when the captain gives you confidence, saying you're the leader of the pack and to go and get the job done. I thrive on that. It has been a long tour. We went to Zimbabwe and came back here. It's about me and my staff managing the workload. I enjoy the challenge. All the captains have given me the responsibility to lead the pack and that's something I enjoy doing.

Aiden Markram: It was a good game in the end for the neutrals. We probably let ourselves down with the bat. It's hard to pick the areas. We have to give the bowlers credit to bounce back from Sunday. They managed to bowl a lot better with the plans and execution. There was a stage where we could have liked to wrap it up early by 170. The last three overs were really good with the ball and 210 was probably a par score. (Dropped catches) All if's and buts, but at the end of the day it's what you take from it. We're on the right path, it's good to see the boys responding in each game. (Looking to be on the attack while bowling) In this short format, when batters get in, it can be tough to stop them, especially at a venue like this. So, our mindset is to always look for wickets and keep attacking, setting the fields that can get us that. We moved away from that in the last few overs perhaps and you see how things can change. (Captaincy) Thoroughly enjoyable. It is challenging at times but certainly enjoyable. Not great to lose but the team is on a journey. We take it as it comes.

Another edge-of-the-seat thriller and this time, West Indies come out on top and win the series 2-1. Not many would've given them the chance to beat South Africa at their backyard but Rovman Powell's men defied all odds to reign supreme and create history. Only once a score of more than 200 has been chased at the Wanderers and it happened during the inaugural World Cup in 2007. South Africa knew the task was stiff but they had things under control for the majority of the game.

There was no de Kock special today as West Indies figured out a way to stop him from creating early damage but Rossouw and Hendricks struck a scintillating partnership to keep the hosts alive in the chase. The boundaries and sixes were coming at regular intervals but Holder ended Rossouw's brilliant knock before Joseph dismissed Miller to break this game wide open

Hendricks was dropped by Brandon King and he made West Indies pay by playing some handsome cricket shots. With 35 runs needed in the final two overs, Joseph wreaked havoc and came up with a triple strike to suck all the momentum that the hosts gathered so far.

Markram couldn't finish the job in the end even though Reifer threw the ball to Raymon Reifer ahead of Sheldon Cottrell. The West Indies bowlers used the slow deliveries into the surface to good effect and mixed up the lengths really well to make things tough for the South African batters at the back end

19.6 Raymon Reifer to Aiden Markram, FOUR! It counts for naught. Full length delivery angled into Markram, who clears his front leg to smash this in the gap at cow corner. It's the visitors who have the last laugh though and the celebrations make it evident that this means a lot to them. West Indies win by 7 runs and clinch the T20I series 2-1!

19.5 Raymon Reifer to Aiden Markram, FOUR! Too little too late. Reifer missed his yorker and that was enough for Markram. Drills it down past the bowler to find the ropes. Meanwhile, Powell looks up to the heavens, already celebrating.
