That brings the curtains on our coverage of this second T20 international between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan from Dambulla! For now, it's Soumarya Dutta taking your leave on behalf of Rajarshi Das! See you soon!
Wanindu Hasaranga, Sri Lanka captain: Credit goes to the batsmen, our batters batted really well. Openers, they did a really good job. Sadeeera (Samarawickrama) and Angie (Mathews) finished really well, if we score more than 170 with our bowling line up, I trust my bowling line-up enough to defend it. Still to go a long way, I trust my variations and want to do much better. I want to test our bench now, given we have four games left before the World Cup. I have to have a look at them as well.
Ibrahim Zadran, Afghanistan captain: I'm happy with the decision of batting second. We were good till the 15th over, gave too many runs at the death. The plan from the support staff and coaches weren't executed. It was a chasable target, the wicket was very good. We were trying to start well in the powerplay. After the powerplay, you can hit big sixes. We were trying to get some momentum and then build a partnership in the middle stages. There is no difference in the wicket that we played the last two games. It's about the mind - cricket, if you can't execute well, you won't be able to play cricket right.
Angelo Matthews, Player of the Match- It feels pretty good. I had to bounce back from a hamstring injury and it all came good in this game. I am comfortable in doing whatever the team wants me to do. I took some time early on and Sadeera also batted brilliantly. The plan for us was to bat all the way and his innings helped me a lot as he was holding up one end. We had to bowl good lines and lengths and put the pressure on the fields. I would like to thank the crowd for their support and they were outstanding.
The post match presentation is coming up shortly!
Afghanistan 115 all out in 17 overs Karim Janat 28 (23) | Wanindu Hasaranga 2/19 Mohammad Nabi 27 (27) | Angelo Matthews 2/9
Matheesha Pathirana closes out the game with a couple of wickets against the tail and this has been emphatic win for Sri Lanka by a mammoth margin of 72 runs. They were clinical with both the bat and the ball and Afghanistan have been knocked out of the series as they the hosts have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three match series.
Afghanistan started off on a disastrous note as Angelo Matthews picked up a couple of wickets in the first two overs and it was followed by Theekshana who got the in form Gurbaz. It became an absolute disaster for Afghanistan as Binura struck a double blow in his first over and reduced them to five down in less than six overs.
Mohammad Nabi began the recovery job with Karim Janat and he struck some lusty blows at that stage of the innings. He targeted the spinners for a while before edging one of Shanaka. The Sri Lankans were all over Afghanistan at the halfway stage with just Najib Zadran and Karim Janat being the last remaining batters in the fore.
Janat waged a lonely battle in the middle for a while and played some big ones against the spinners. However the joy didn't last long for them as Hasaranga cleaned him up along with Zadran in one over to hammer the final nail in the coffin for Afghanistan. The skipper picked up two wickets in his spell and he had a night to remember. Theekshana, the other spinner was slightly expensive but he too chipped in with a wicket.
Sri Lanka win by 72 runs and take clinch the series!

16.6 Matheesha Pathirana to Fazalhaq Farooqi, CAUGHT! THAT'S THAT - Sri Lanka will claim the T20I series as well! Pathirana flings this one in on a fullish length outside off, Farooqi, having moved his front leg away from the line early, poked at it meekly, tapping it towards Shanaka at cover. The all-rounder leapt, and plucked it with utmost ease! A statement win for Sri Lanka, this - the margin being 72 runs!
