Commentary

Oh-man (pun not intended) that was quick, wasn't it? A lot to ponder for both teams but that's it from our side, folks! We tried to keep it crisp and lovely for you, exactly what Sri Lanka got from the match! But surely this wouldn't be enough cricket for you for the day, right? Dasun Shanaka (Sri Lanka captain): It's not about the toss, it's about body language and intent. Lahiru and Hasaranga showed that intent. We don't take any team lightly. We always try to bring our A-game. Another 6 games to go and we are planning to give our 100%. He (Hasaranga) is a champion. Whenever I throw him the ball, he's there for me. Nice to see him get a five-wicket haul. (On the opening partnership) It's a habit for them which allows our big hitters to come and take the game on in the middle-overs. The supporting staff and management have done great work to keep the team environment calm.

Zeeshan Maqsood (Oman captain): Definitely it's big for us to play against Sri Lanka. We've learnt a lot from them especially the batters. The first ten overs, we lost too many wickets. Later Ayaaz's wicket was crucial. We are tested now and that is good for us. We know what is the strategy we have to carry and play if we are batting first. We are still on course, have two wins and are looking forward. We cannot lose hope. We have to play well how we've been playing. We have to put this behind us and look ahead. (On Ayaan Khan) He played really well. Unfortunately he couldn't get a fifty but he played really well.

Wanindu Hasaranga is undoubtedly the Player of the Match for his stellar returns of 5/13. Here's what he has to say: This is a very good wicket to bowl for leg-spinners. I tried to bowl at the stumps and that's why I got wickets. (What's the secret behind batters not picking his googly?) I don't know what the reason is but I try to bowl at the stumps and do my normal basics. The fast-bowlers bowled really well and bowled really good areas. Lahiru Kumara bowled really well and Kasun Rajitha supported him well. These matches and wickets are very helpful for the World Cup tournament.

That's as easy as it gets! We generally don't see a team win by 10 wickets with over 200 balls to spare in ODIs. Oman had a good opening stand but it all went downhill from there. Wanindu Hasaranga lit up the first innings with his five-wicket haul and kept Oman to a measly 98.

And Nissanka and Karunaratne squeezed out all their experience in the second innings. There was not much swing or seam movement for Bilal and Butt, though the latter did put Karunaratne under a bit of pressure with his short balls. But the former Lankan captain was up to it and played a couple of identical lap shots over third man to set the pace for the innings.

Whenever the pacers strung up a few good deliveries together, one of them used their excellent wrists to find gaps. By the time the spinners came up, Karunaratne was in cruise mode and Nissanka was happy to punish anything that came full on his bat, and there were too many of those.

They slowly increase the pace of their innings, brought the sweeps out and finished it off in the 15th! Oman would be disappointed with how deflated they looked in the second innings despite the poor first innings. Shanaka and Co. would be delighted with the clinical performance.

Shuffles across and brings out a paddle off a back of a length radar outside the off stump. Places it just fine of the keeper as he doesn't quite middle it but thereafter, there is nobody to come in the way of that. This has been a good old-fashioned hammering that the Lankan lions have dished out. Sri Lanka wrap up a 10-wicket win with 35 overs to spare!
