Richard Berrington (Scotland captain): Yeah, as we said at the start, we were looking to utilize the early movement. We didn't capitalize on the early wickets. It was a fantastic effort from the bowlers to bowl them ou under 250. We know their strength is rotation of strike, so wanted to chip and change. The wicket was a bit slow. Great to see the boys show faith all the end of the innings [while batting]. It showed us the value of having wickets in hand. We just need to look to come back strong in the next game.

Dasun Shanaka (Sri Lanka captain): Very important to carry all the points in the next round to make the World Cup in India. Two very important points. The wicket wasn't easy to bat on, compared to other wickets. Collapses happen, our target was 280. We play positive cricket, playing shots and getting out isn't a problem for our side. We will continue to do that. Theekshana and Hasaranga always do well, so it helps our team combination. [On team combination] Dhananjaya de Silva and myself are there to bowl for the fifth bowler and we have enough bowlers on the bench if needed.

Maheesh Theekshana (Player of the Match): Our plan was to bowl on the stumps. We knew that there was some variable bounce since that is how it felt when we batted. They had very good batsmen, but our plan of bowling on the stumps helped. I think bowling with the new ball is my strength, which is why all the teams I play in ask me to do so. It was good fun with the bat- our plan was to play the ten overs in hand, and we almost succeeded- but good learning as well.

Sri Lanka win by 82 runs and will take 2 extra points to the Super Six!

Complete domination from Sri Lanka. They started with Kumara and Rajitha, who were a bit inconsistent to start with but the former got one nip back in early on Cross and got his wicket. McBride started positively on the other end which forced Shanaka to go to Theekshana early.

The mystery spinner gave 10 off his first over but came back strongly, held the sixth stump line and set the game up for Sri Lanka by sending back McMullen and skipper Berrington in quick succession. Rajitha dropped Berrington's dolly catch off Theekshana's bowling but Shanaka trusted him with the ball immediately after and he got rid of Mackintosh.

Mackintosh's LBW and then Shanaka's (who brought himself to bowl early instead of going with spinners from both ends) LBW of Leask were a bit dubious and might have gone the other way if DRS was available. Hasaranga came on next and got a wicket off a full-toss. He missed his lines and lengths repeatedly in the innings but soon got Watt with a corker that had an excellent change in pace.

Scotland looked like they would just crumble after Theekshana took the eighth wicket by sending back Jarvis. However, Chris Greaves had other plans. The No. 7 batter looked in better touch than most of his teammates and took the spinners on the full, sitting down and hitting sweeps, and clearing the infield for fun. He notched the first half-century against Sri Lanka in the tournament and give Scotland their final ray of hope.

But out of nowhere, Chris Sole, who was supporting him well so far, decided to go for a quick second run off de Silva's bowling and a huge mixup sent him packing. Greaves entertained the crowd for a few more balls after that but ran his partner and the last batter out trying to retain strike.
