Delano Potgieter is the Player of the Match, here is what he has to say: "It happened so quickly, I don't know what to say. I guess it is lovely and I took it as it come. This was the first time I bowled for MI Cape Town in two seasons. I just tried to keep it simple, tried to hit the top of the stumps and it went alright. I came into bat in the 17th over, so did not have much to think. I tried to get as many as I could."
Rashid Khan [MI Cape Town captain]: "Perfect start for us in T20, this is the kind of start in any kind of tournament you need. We had couple of bad seasons, but the way we started here is good. Couldn't have asked for a better show from the guys. Brevis can change the momentum of the game in no time, he has delivered earlier but he's done it for us today, amazing to see how he hits the ball. I feel you always need to get a good start. Boult is someone, his experience helps, he set the tone for the run chase. Special bowler, special guy, he hasn't bowl much. He waited for long, so happy for him. It's all about how he's adjusted on this wicket, job well done."
Aiden Markram [Sunrisers Eastern Cape captain]: "Fair to say that unfortunately. Tough day around, nice moments for us in the field, but we allowed them to get to 170, that's the T20 cricket. We'll have to have good conversations, quick tournament and quick turnaround, will need to come up better. It was pleasing to see that, didn't think we needed to do any better or fancy. Credit to the bowlers for bowling well in the first six. Fortunately, we took the gambles here and there. Sometimes you get it right, sometimes you don't, I'm not the one who takes the credit. Brevis played really well. The odd over there hurt us, we allowed them to get to 170, it was a score sometime you could end up chasing here."

St. George's Park was drenched in orange, all set for a carnival tonight. The fans of the two-time defending champions had packed the stands as well as the grass banks to their capacity a good half an hour before the first ball of the contest was delivered. With the band playing its melodies and the DJ blasting some fine tunes, it sounded like a party at the beginning. However, it ends with grave, deafening silence reverberating around the ground.
Not many expected the Sunrisers to be mauled in this fashion. After all, they had never lost to MI Cape town in the history of SA20 before this. Even the start was a laudable one. They pegged the visitors back with three early wickets. However, a blistering knock of 57 from Dewald Brevis and late order cameos from George Linde and Delano Potgieter saw MICT get to a good score in the end.
It was in the second innings that calamity hit the orange army. Trent Boult set the tone with a double wicket maiden. He had an able ally in Azmatullah Omarzai who took the new ball from the other end. Sunrisers were derailed early. Though, they were spurred on constantly by the fans for a fightback. Captain Markram even put up a semblance of fight. But it all fell apart pretty soon when Delano Potgieter got the ball in his hand. The all-rounder picked up a fifer within just 18 balls and ensured that his team kickstarted the season with not just a win but a bonus point as well.
