That brings us to the end of our coverage of this particular encounter. This is myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) signing off also on behalf of my fellow commentator and good mate Soumarya Dutta.

The Sydney Sixers continued their dominant run over the Sydney Thunder, defeating them by 5 wickets in the final delivery of the over. At the halfway stage, it looked just an above-par score and the Sixers needed to bat well to chase this down. The opening duo of Josh Philippe and James Vince provided a steady start with a partnership of 34 runs before a terrible mix up between the two resulted in the departure of Vince.

Philippe took his time initially but started looking much more confident of his strokeplay as the innings progressed. He smacked a couple of fours and sixes each en route to his knock of 35 off 27 deliveries before Philippe was sent back to the pavilion by Daniel Sams. Jack Edwards and Moises Henriques joined hands to resurrect the innings. The captain didn't manage to find the boundaries in the middle overs.

Edwards slowly started getting into his groove but just when he looked like turning towards the Sixers, it was a brilliant direct throw from David Warner which brought about his downfall. Henriques struggled his way to a 22 ball 17 before Lockie Ferguson got the important wicket. Jordan Silk was out in the middle and needed to rise to the occasion. However, he wasn't getting enough support from the other end.

That is when Ben Dwarshuis came out in the middle and took the Thunder bowling attack by the scruff of the neck. He smashed a lusty blow to get underway and then smacked a massive six off the penultimate over of the match to see their side through. With this victory, the Sixers have extended their head-to-head record to 9-2.

Ben Dwarshuis (Sydney Sixers) - " Silk and I were trying to enjoy ourselves and have a good game. It worked well for us. It was nice to get some of the middle of the bat. Green bowled really well so credit to him. I was waiting for him to make the mistake. These bats from NB are working well for me. I was a bit disappointed with my first two overs and wanted to bounce back later. Was good to take those two wickets. There is a lot to this rivalry and always special to get in the win."

The Sydney Sixers have won here in the most dramatic of circumstances. What an incredible little cameo from Ben Dwarshuis. Good presence of mind to knock it around for a single and get it done. Chris Green almost pulled it off but it wasn't to be in the end. The Sixers again managing to hold their nerves and deliver the killer punch.
