Brisbane Heat have a team to adapt to any conditions and proving too tough to beat at the moment. The Thunder couldn't apply themselves with the bat and it led to them being on the wrong side of the result. Mitchell Swepson, Player of the Match: It was a good performance. I am quite pleased with the way the ball came out of my hand today. I am happy with the way things went. We are all great mates here at the Heat. I love bowling together with Matthew (Kuhnemann) and the results show. We did not have too much of a turnaround time from our red-ball season but that actually helped us. The momentum was with us throughout.
Brisbane Heat won by 20 runs Colin Munro 46 (33) | Oliver Davies 35(30) Xavier Bartlett 3-35 (4) | Tanveer Sangha 3-21 (4)
Things unfolded too quickly and we have a result in favour of Brisbane Heat eventually. They made the target of 152 look very big with some clinical bowling inside the powerplay and Swepson weaved his magic in the middle overs to not allow the hosts to get ahead in the contest. Losing wickets at regular intervals didn't help the Thunder's cause as they needed someone to bat till the end to steer the side home. It looked Davies was assigned that responsibility but Kuhnemann removed him to make things worse for the Thunder
The Power Surge remained the only hope for the Thunder and Green went after Bartlett's loose deliveries to smash four boundaries in the first over. His presence was threatening for the Heat until Kuhnemann got the better of him and that turned out to be a final nail in the coffin for the Thunder. Bartlett finished the formalities in the penultimate over and ended his spell with three wickets to his name eventually
