Commentary

That is it from this match! Disappointed and exasperating that we could not come to a conclusion for this belter of an encounter but that is how it is. There are factors beyond human control and the larger power has ruled upon us.
The match started on a promising note with hardly any chance of rain and a highly competitive encounter by Scorchers and Thunder. Scorchers after winning the bat flip chose t bat and scored 184 for the loss of two wickets courtesy of some exuberant batting from the master Beth Mooney and her apprentice Chamara Athapaththu. Sydney Thunder had a disappointing start as Darlington was knocked over by Kapp who had her 100th WBBL wicket in the form of Darlington.

It was going all hunky-dory when heavy rains just stormed the ground and interrupted the play and then there has been no resumption since.
It was exciting though for the amount of time we had live-action and really gutted to not bring you any more live-action due to the weather.

Just a thought on this season of WBBL overall- The season has been full of explosive batting be it Beth Mooney, Grace Harris, Harmanpret Kaur or Sophie Devine while with the ball Lilly Mills and Jess Jonassen have been stars. One of the finest and this season has been the revelation of Alyssa King, the skiddy leg-spinner who deceived batters so much with her cunning turn

Perth Scorchers have cut out their task. Take wickets, take the match! As simple as that. But sometimes what looks easy on paper isn't easy to replicate. Devine has to rotate her bowlers smartly during the powerplay and also after that. Often when a side is chasing 180+, the first 10 overs become all the more important

Sydney Thunder can look at this rain delay as a blessing in disguise and should regroup to calibrate a roadmap for this chase. They have already lost a wicket early. Responsibilities hurdle up on Mandhana's shoulders as she is tasked with it to take the team forward. But Sammy-Jo Johnson and Deepti Sharma should play their individual roles and collectively take Sydney Thunder over the line
