Good evening and a warm welcome to Sportskeeda's live coverage of the US Masters T10 2023. The 8th match of the tournament and the second of the day pits the California Knights up against the Texas Chargers at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida.
Both teams have had two matches against their name although one of them ended as a washout due to rain. The one game that happened to produce a result for either team happened to come against each other with the Knights prevailing by 48 runs after piling up a mammoth 158 on the board.
Leading the way was Milind Kumar as the all-rounder who played for Texas Super Kings in the inaugural edition of Major League Cricket Blasted an unbeaten 76 off 28 deliveries. With Jacques Kallis rewinding the clock with an unbeaten 64 of his own, the likes of skipper Suresh Raina and Denesh Ramdin weren't even required with the ball. It was a day to forget for the Chargers attack though as Pragyan Ojha and Umar Gul in particular took a pasting, even as Fidel Edwards struck early with the wicket of Aaron Finch.
Mukhtar Ahmed, Upul Tharanga and skipper Ben Dunk all got starts in their chase but failed to convert them into substantial knocks that could take the Chargers close to the target. Alongside this troika, the duo of Darren Stevens and Mohammad Hafeez headline a strong batting lineup that will be entrusted with coming good. They do have to contend with a good bowling attack that the Knights will field though as Ashley Nurse, Ricardo Powell and Pawan Suyal showed on Saturday.
Can the Knights make it two out of two against the Chargers or will the latter pull one back? This ought to be an entertaining contest in front of us, taking you through the course of which will be my good friend Soumarya Datta and I (Sooryanarayanan Sesha). Stick around for news from the toss and the lineups...
