That's it. Washington Freedom are knocked out and MI New York wait for the loser of the game between the Seattle Orcas and Texas Super Kings. The bowlers had plenty of success in this contest and it's interesting to see how the wicket plays under lights. Switch tabs to find out the LIVE coverage of Qualifier 1 shortly. Now, it's time to end the coverage here, hope you enjoyed it as much as we did bringing it you. Until next time, this is Pragadeesh signing off
Nicholas Pooran - Well done to the guys. Everyone stepped up. In all fairness, Jansen played really well in the powerplay and we lost wickets at crucial times. Discipline, energy and attitude were important. We have to control and gets wickets in the powerplay and that's crucial. When you win games like this you gain some confidence. We won as a team and we are looking forward to tomorrow
Moises Henriques - The wicket looked amazing but we didn't play consistently. 140 is chaseable had the batters made a better decision in the middle order. I was really happy throughout the tournament that we didn't play consistent cricket but still scrapped our way through. We have a good balanced bowling attack. (Message to the crowd) Stick with us and it's an enjoyable team to be around
Dewald Brevis (Man of the Match) - I am so happy at the moment. We have been working hard and it's good to see the result going in our way. I am happy to contribute wherever I am asked to do it. Polly gave me some wise words and that helped me. I kept playing my shots and enjoyed the moment. I thought whenever the ball is in the arc, I should go for it
MI New York won by 16 runs Dewald Brevis 57(41) | Marco Jansen 28(18) Trent Boult 4-20 | Saurabh Netravalkar 2-25(4)
MI New York bowlers were at the receiving end of Heinrich Klaasen's onslaught a couple of nights ago but they produced the goods in a tough batting wicket and knocked Washington Freedom out of the tournament. With his pace and swing at the start and knuckle balls in the end, Trent Boult wreaked havoc to the Washington batters and his spell proved to be match-defining in the end. He got rid of the dangerous Short instantly after being hit for a maximum. When it looked like Glenn Phillips was starting to get into a nice groove, Boult came back to remove him with a knuckle ball and he bowled an all-important penultimate over to get rid of the dangerous Marco Jansen
The partnership between Gous and Ahmed did help Washington to stay within touching distance to the asking rate but both batters failed to convert their starts into a big score. Phillips fought at one end but the likes of Henriques and Pienaar failed to rise to the occasion and that was the reason for Washington's downfall eventually. After a middle order failure, Jansen came up with some clean strikes and it was game on until the penultimate over but Boult ended his stay to bring smiles to the MI New York dugout. Some tight bowling from Wiese coupled with some sensational catching from him at the back end proved pivotal for MI New York to cross the finish line in addition to Boult's heroics with the ball
