Thank you for tuning in folks! It's a quick turnaround series and we have the final lined up within 24 hours which, by the looks of it, won't be anything but another thriller. Hope to see you then! For now, it's the pair of Rudransh and Mohul signing off for Sportskeeda!
Harry Tector is the Player of the Match! Here's what he has to say: It feels like every game we play against Zimbabwe goes to the last over. Great to get over the line today. 12-13 overs is a period we have spoken about and it's my area. Disappointed to get out when I did but happy to contribute.I am happy to bat at four. We have a world-class top-order, what they have done is top-class and long may that continue.
Paul Stirling, captain of Ireland: It was really nice to get over the line. There was a pretty good feeling in the dressing room after it happened. Our batters have shown a lot of maturity. T20 cricket is like this- we lost two early wickets but managed to build after that. We will try to come back tomorrow and showcase that we are not so bad on the field as we were today. We are happy with the win.
Ryan Burl, stand-in captain of Zimbabwe: It's just one of those things. Seems to be a niggle. We will have to see how Sean (Williams) is doing. There was a bit of a cluster of wickets that fell for us. We could consolidate towards the latter half but as it turned out, it was not enough. It was nice to get a couple of early wickets, but unfortunately, we did not have enough runs on the board. Playing the youngsters and giving them a chance was a high-risk and high-reward but they did well.
IRELAND LEVEL THE SERIES! THE FINAL OVER THRILLER THIS TIME GOES IRISH!
What a match. What a series so far. The finale is set up perfectly. This is a brilliant, underrated rivalry. Who said bilateral cricket was boring? Whoever did, just didn't watch the right matches!
Harry Tector 48 (38) | Mark Adair (2/28) Clive Madande 44 (39) | Richard Ngarava (2/33)
This is a really good, confidence-lifting chase from Ireland. Before the innings started, they'd have felt they let a bit too many runs on the board. And those feelings would have peaked when Balbirnie and Stirling got out to a couple of good slower ones from Ngarva and Muzarabani.
After brilliant disciplined spells from the two new ball fast-bowlers, Zimbabwe struggled in the middle overs. This phase showed why they missed Raza's spin much, much more than his batting. Gwndu, Williams and Burl were all expensive and even though the former got Tucker out, he didn't back it up with any kind of consistency.
Tector and Campher then brought out their best to the fore. The minimised the dot balls and played a few overs of risk-free, singles and doubles based cricket. It took the part-time spin of Bennett and a poor shot from Campher to break the stand. Ngarava then came back and removed Tector as well.
Adair played a special knock, taking a bit of time early on, absorbing the pressure and thumping it at just the right moments. With Williams also picking up an injury mid-innings, Zimbabwe had the resources only to stretch the game to the last over, not to win it.
20.0
19.4 Luke Jongwe to George Dockrell, SLICED FOR FOUR! IRELAND WIN THIS GAME! Full and wide outside off. Dockrell throws his bat at it and slices it over the fielder at short third man for a boundary! That will be that- Ireland win this game in the last over!
OH NO! ZIMBABWE THAT'S THE MATCH! Ireland dropped catches aplenty in the first innings but you can't return the favor at this stage of the game!
19.3 Luke Jongwe to George Dockrell, DROPPED! COSTLY DROP! Full and wide outside off, moves away. Dockrell chips it towards deep cover, where the fielder runs in and yet fumbles with the catch! Two runs taken.
Delany misses the full toss! Should have got it away better.
