What a collapse from Zinitis! This was a completely contrasting innings from the first one. Baneasa had started poorly but made up for it in the last five overs. Zinitis, on the other hand, were 54/1 after the powerplay but made just 43 runs in the next seven overs and lost nine wickets.
The collapse started with Devinda's wicket. The batter was timing the ball well but Hussain removed him and Hasindu Chamika on back-to-back balls to turn the game on its head. Though Madushanka held one end, no other batter went past five runs, failing to Hussain's street-smart bowling and Nawaz's loopy leg-spin.
What also went wrong for Zinitis was that at the end, Puthen and Asanka wasted 10 big balls and couldn't give the strike to Madushanka, who eventually holed one out to fine-leg. Prasanna then came in the final over to defend 17 runs against the tail and picked three wickets in four deliveries to finish off the innings.
9.4 Mahesh Prasanna to Nithin Kondarappassery, THAT'S THAT! ZINITIS ARE ALL OUT! Length delivery sliding in, Nithin looks to defend but he misses and gets struck in front. LBW appeal and the umpire lifts his finger. So, Zinitis are all-out for 97/10 and lose by 13 runs!
Nithin Kondarappassery lbw b Mahesh Prasanna 0 (1b, 0x4, 0x6)
9.3 Mahesh Prasanna to Chaminda Asanka, WICKET! Full and sliding in, Asanka runs down the track and looks to slog but he misses while the ball goes onto rattle the stumps!
Chaminda Asanka b Mahesh Prasanna 2 (4b, 0x4, 0x6)
9.3 Mahesh Prasanna to Kumara Weerasinghe, full-toss bowled wide of off, Kumara looks to drive but he misses it. Extra run taken along with the wide!
Kumara Weerasinghe, RHB, comes to the crease
9.2 Mahesh Prasanna to Pasindu Vindula, DRAGGED ON! Full and sliding on, Pasindu looks to slog but he gets an inside-edge onto the pad after which the ball rolls onto the stumps!
Pasindu Vindula b Mahesh Prasanna 0 (1b, 0x4, 0x6)
9.1 Mahesh Prasanna to Chaminda Asanka, full outside-off, Asanka drags it to long-on for a single
Mahesh Prasanna, left-arm orthodox, comes into the attack
Madhushanka showed what he can do with the strike. But the deliveries wasted by his partners left a bit too much on him and he crumbled under the pressure. 17 needed of the last over, looks difficult for the two new batters.
