Telugu Titans 28 - 26 Patna Pirates

Well, it took some time to get going, but what an absolute roller-coaster ride that turned out to be! Ashish Narwal emerges as the hero for the Titans as they register their 2nd win of Pro Kabaddi 2024, moving into the top half of the points table with that performance.

Patna led by three at half-time, as both raiding units had a decent first half, with the left corners of both teams (both of them incidentally named Ankit) having solid outings. However, the Titans cut the deficit immediately in the 2nd half, and support raider Ashish Narwal took the lead in the raiding department, and did so with aplomb.

Ashish was stellar in do-or-die raids, especially forcing some errors from Patna left corner Ankit, and his Super Raid late in the 2nd half should've won the game for them, but Ayan hit back with a Super Raid for the Pirates off the very next raid.

However, Ashish Narwal struck once again in yet another do-or-die raid a minute and a half from the final whistle, and that point proved to be the game-changing moment as the Titans had their wits about them and managed the clock superbly to record a well-deserved win.

That brings to an end an exciting night of kabaddi, filled with plenty of solid performances. Join us again tomorrow as I, Shreyas, bid you adieu. Good Night!
2nd Half, 40'
Telugu Titans 28 - 26 Patna Pirates

Krishan Dhull might just have won this for the Titans!
He gets the tackle spot on against Ayan and with less than a minute left, that could be that.

Pawan smartly pushes Devank back to the mid-line, also wasting precious time in the struggle, and on the last raid, with the deficit down to one, Patna's high-line against the experienced Vijay Malik doesn't work as the veteran keeps his cool, runs the clock down and escapes from the advanced tackle on Gurdeep.

A stellar raiding effort from Ashish Narwal and some smart game management gets the Telugu Titans their second win of PKL 11 and how the fans love that!
2nd Half, 39'
Telugu Titans 26 - 25 Patna Pirates

Patna draw level courtesy another smooth escape from Sandeep Kumar. He's too quick and agile for Sagar Sethpal, who has had a poor evening.

Ashish Narwal has another do-or-die raid, and guess what, he does it again! Ankit just can't resist going for the touch on the raider, and that's a crucial point for them.
2nd Half, 38'
Telugu Titans 25 - 24 Patna Pirates

And Ayan delivers! What a raid that is! A Super Raid from Ayan to hit back and bring the Pirates back within touching distance. It's a do-or-die raid for the bright left raider, and he gets the bonus point before Krishan Dhull attempts the ankle hold, but Ayan's momentum carries him to the mid-line.

Ajit Pawar, the left cover joins in for support but Ayan's strength and court awareness allows him to bring his hand past the mid-line!

Riveting stuff this as the Titans now call for a timeout.
2nd Half, 37'
Telugu Titans 25 - 21 Patna Pirates

Ashish Narwal might just have won this for the Titans with a brilliant Super Raid! It's another do-or-die raid, and like he has done twice already, Ashish steps up and delivers for the Titans.

Goes straight in for Ankit on the Patna left corner, and slips away from his ankle hold, using his momentum well to drift past any attempted challenges on the way to the mid-line, getting a 3-point raid.

The Titans aren't satisfied with that though, and review for a bonus point as well. However, it looks like he's cut the bonus line so he probably won't get the point. Review unsuccessful, but a wonderful raid nevertheless.

Patna call for a timeout and boy do they need one. They need something special to win this, with around 200 seconds left to play.
2nd Half, 36'
Telugu Titans 22 - 21 Patna Pirates

Ohh, big point that for the Pirates! Sandeep Kumar races across with a sharp running hand touch on Sagar Sethpal, the right cover. The deficit down to one now.
2nd Half, 34'
Telugu Titans 22 - 20 Patna Pirates

The Titans have another do-or-die raid now, and Ashish Narwal is waited out really well by the Patna defense, Ankit getting an easy tackle point for his efforts.

But Patna unable to gain any foothold on this match as Ankit from the Titans' left corner surprises Devank in a do-or-die raid with another confident back hold. He's up to four tackle points for the night, with zero unsuccessful attempts.

Patna's defense hits back immediately, though, as Pawan Sehrawat goes down to a well-timed diving challenge from Gurdeep.
2nd Half, 32'
Telugu Titans 21 - 18 Patna Pirates

Sandeep Kumar takes on Ankit, who has been the Titans' best defender tonight, and the left corner adds to his tally with a waist hold as Sandeep looks to retreat, extending the Titans' lead to three.

A couple of empty raids follow as Patna not willing to take many risks in the raiding department tonight.
2nd Half, 30'
Telugu Titans 20 - 18 Patna Pirates

Pawan Sehrawat does really well to corner the two Pirates defenders on the same side, eventually getting a touch on Shubham Shinde.

Devank is the last man standing for Patna, and he's unable to get more than a bonus point as the Titans get the first all-out of the match, and it's Ashish Narwal who gets the tackle point for the Titans! He's been immense in this 2nd half.

The Titans lead for the first time in this match! Pawan is settling into his groove now, as he easily gets the running hand touch on Shubham Shinde, who hasn't looked at ease throughout this game.

The timeout comes at the right time for Patna. Can they regroup?
2nd Half, 29'
Telugu Titans 15 - 16 Patna Pirates

Back-to-back bonus points for Devank, who's adding some really useful points to their total. A do-or-die raid comes about for the Titans against a 3-man Patna defense. This is a huge moment in the game, and once again, Ashish Narwal steps up!

He gets a touch on the substitute Thiyagarajan Yuvaraj as Patna are reduced to two.
2nd Half, 26'
Telugu Titans 14 - 15 Patna Pirates

Ohh, huge point that for Ashish Narwal as the Titans draw level! It's another do-or-die raid in a 1v4 situation but Ashish shows good movement across the court, getting a hefty touch on Ankit's arm on Patna's left.

Devank does well to get a bonus point in a do-or-die raid that follows for Patna.
2nd Half, 24'
Telugu Titans 13 - 14 Patna Pirates

A do-or-die raid in a 1v4 situation
is one of the toughest assignments for a raider and even for a raider of Pawan's quality, a disciplined Patna defense is too much to deal with, Shubham Shinde opening his account with a tackle point there.

Well, Patna has a do-or-die raid now, and this time, it's the Patna raider Ayan who makes the error, stepping into the lobby without a touch.
2nd Half, 22'
Telugu Titans 12 - 13 Patna Pirates

Pawan Sehrawat scores instantly after half-time to allay the nerves of the Titans' fans, escaping easily from Deepak Singh's advance tackle. Krishan Dhull finally gets his challenge right in a 1v4 situation as the Pirates are reduced to four now. Solid start to the half this for the Titans.
1st Half, 20'
Telugu Titans 10 - 13 Patna Pirates

Pawan Sehrawat gets the running hand touch with ease on a retreating Gurdeep, bringing the Titans within touching distance of the Pirates. However, Sandeep Kumar restores Patna's 3-point lead with a superb dive to escape from Krishan's attempted challenge.

The whistle blows for half-time on what has been a slow-paced game thus far. 3-point deficit for the Titans won't be too hard to overcome, but their defense needs to cut out the errors and self-outs for that to happen.
1st Half, 18'
Telugu Titans 9 - 12 Patna Pirates

Ashish Narwal gets a huge point for the Titans, reviving Pawan Sehrawat with a great running hand touch on Deepak Singh. Ohh, Ayan is putting in a performance similar to what Devank put in the other day. He is too swift with the sliding toe touch on Ajit Pawar.
1st Half, 16'
Telugu Titans 8 - 11 Patna Pirates

Sandeep's speed and agility causing problems for that Titans' defense. He forces another error, this time from Sagar Sethpal, who loses balance and falls into the lobby.

With the Titans down to three, Ankit puts in a ferocious challenge on Vijay Malik to reduce them to two.

However, what an effort that is from the two Titans defenders to keep them in this match! Ankit and Ajit Pawar combine to keep Devank down in a Super Tackle situation! The Patna raider refuses to die down, but Ankit had a lock on his ankle and refused to let go.
1st Half, 14'
Telugu Titans 6 - 9 Patna Pirates

As expected, Patna play on the do-or-die raid, and Pawan himself volunteers for it, and he almost gets to the mid-line! Ankit dives in with a double ankle hold, but Pawan just about reaches the mid-line before Shubham Shinde and Deepak Singh join in support, securing the tackle point for the Pirates.

Patna have a do-or-die raid in the very next raid, and Sandeep Kumar forces an error from Krishan Dhull, as the Titans' right corner steps beyond the end-line. 3-point lead for Patna now.
1st Half, 12'
Telugu Titans 6 - 7 Patna Pirates

1v5 situation for Devank and the in-form raider probably ventures a bit too deep down the right, and the left corner Ankit's ankle hold does not miss.

Patna down to four, and it'll take something special from the Titans' raiders to get a raid point in such a situation.
1st Half, 10'
Telugu Titans 5 - 7 Patna Pirates

Both teams have five players on the mat now, so you'd expect them to play on the do-or-die raid.

Right on cue, Ayan has one now, and Ankit Jaglan's block, while looking a bit weak at the start, ends up being a good one once the support comes in.

It's a do-or-die raid for the Titans now and in a 1v4 situation, a disciplined Pirates defense wait Ashish Narwal out before Deepak Singh delivers the killer blow with a solid block.

The whistle blows for a timeout in a slightly sluggish contest so far. Pirates have had the upper hand right from the start, but the lead hasn't gone beyond three points. The Titans will want Pawan Sehrawat to explode here.
1st Half, 8'
Telugu Titans 4 - 6 Patna Pirates

Ayan has looked really bright so far, and while all eyes were on Devank, he has quietly gone about his business, nailing a swift toe touch on the right corner Krishan Dhull.

As the Titans are pushed to the brink and down to three, Vijay Malik comes up with a big two-point raid as the Pirates' right corner and left cover concede a freebie to the experienced campaigner.

This game is slowly picking up pace now.
1st Half, 6'
Telugu Titans 2- 5 Patna Pirates

Patna has a do-or-die raid immediately after, but Ayan does really well to unsettle the Titans' defense with his pace, causing the left corner Ankit to lose balance.

However, Pawan Sehrawat opens his account with a back kick on Patna's left corner Ankit.

He's immediately revived by the brilliant Devank Dalal. He seems like the real deal here! The challenge comes in from the cover combination, and he uses his height to great effect in a two-point raid, extending the Pirates' lead to three points now.
1st Half, 4'
Telugu Titans 1- 2 Patna Pirates

A slow start to this match this, as the Pirates remain wary of a 5-man Titans defense while the Titans look like they lack bite in the raiding department when Pawan is off court.

A do-or-die raid comes about for the Titans, and Ashish Narwal does well to anticipate the dash from Deepak Singh and escapes with ease.
FYI, Deepak Singh is subbed back on. That's good news for the Pirates. He has a great record against the Titans does Deepak, and he returns to the mat after receiving treatment for some bleeding.
1st Half, 2'
Telugu Titans 0 - 2 Patna Pirates

Sandeep begins with an empty raid, but the volume rises as Pawan Sehrawat enters the opposition half as the crowd roars for their captain. However, it's not a positive start for Pawan as Deepak Singh, aided by solid support from Gurdeep, gets a solid chain block on the Hi-Flyer.

Well, Patna have made a substitution there, Deepak Singh might have sustained a knock while making that tackle and he is subbed off.

Ayan opens his account with a running hand touch on the left cover Ajit Pawar. We're yet to see the first of the in-form Devank.
It's Sandeep Kumar who'll start us off.
Right then, both teams are onto the mat and we're all set for live action.

Toss Update: Telugu Titans win the toss and choose court. The Pirates will raid first.

Hello, good evening, and a warm welcome to Sportskeeda's coverage of the eleventh edition of the Pro Kabaddi League. We have for you a clash between the Telugu Titans and the Patna Pirates here at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad.

The home side hasn't had the best of results since opening night, and while they have received plenty of backing from their crowd, the confidence in the team has been found lacking, as reflected by the 37-41 defeat to Dabang Delhi KC in their last outing, where their defense could score only two tackle points. Pawan Sehrawat's individual form has been good, and the team will hope their captain can lead them to a win here.

Meanwhile, the Patna Pirates seem to have a new leader in the raiding department in Devank, whose 25-point raiding performance nearly single-handedly took them to a win against the Tamil Thalaivas, their first of the season. It was a much-needed morale boost for Patna, who lost heavily to the Puneri Paltan in their first match.

Both teams have their share of concerns heading into this match, and it'll be interesting to see who comes out on top in what should be a thrilling encounter. So sit back and relax as I, Shreyas, take you through all that unfolds in this match.
