One of the most dominant mixed martial artists in the heavyweight division, Francis Ngannou, was among the leading athletes on the UFC roster. Armed with a powerful punching ability, he has knocked out his opponents 12 times out of his total 20 appearances in professional mixed martial arts as of now. After signing with the UFC, Francis Ngannou showed promising signs of a future champion right from his first fight in the promotion. He domineered Luis Henrique by knocking him out in the second round of the fight, embarking on an undefeated run for the next six fights in the UFC, which included knockout victories over UFC fighters like Curtis Blaydes and Alistair Overeem. Ngannou clinched the prized heavyweight title from veteran heavyweight fighter Stipe Miocic at UFC 260. Ngannou, after an initial wobble in the contest, delivered a powerful punch, shutting Miocic’s lights off in the second round of the fight. He defended his title against Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 by winning via unanimous decision.

Often cited as one of the most powerful competitors in the heavyweight division, Francis Ngannou developed differences with UFC President Dana White. With their fissures becoming public, Ngannou left the promotion while being its champion in the heavyweight class. The UFC stripped him of the title in January 2023, making him a free agent. He signed with the PFL in May 2023 in a lucrative deal with added benefits. The Cameroonian fighter will now compete in the New Super Fight Division of the PFL, reportedly earning a seven-figure purse for each fight. He is free to compete in a squared circle while being signed with the PFL.
