Umar Nurmagomedov is an undefeated professional mixed martial artist from Dagestan. Currently signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), he started training with his brother, the Bellator champion Usman Nurmagomedov, at a young age. Nurmagomedev mastered his wrestling skills and eventually transitioned to professional mixed martial arts. His mixed martial arts debut came against Rishat Kharisov at Fight Nights Global 57 on December 16, 2016. Nurmagomedov dispatched Kharisov in the second round with a guillotine choke to secure a second-round submission victory. After fighting in multiple fight promotions, which include PFL and Eagle FC, Nurmagomedov finally joined the UFC's roster.

In his debut in the UFC, Umar Nurmagomedev was pitted against Sergey Morozov at the UFC on ESPN: Chiesa vs. Magny on January 20, 2021. Morozov couldn’t last long inside the octagon against Nurmagomedov and ended up losing the fight via second-round submission courtesy of a rear-naked choke. He won the Performance of the Night award in his debut showdown at the UFC.
