Born on April 16, 1990, in Arrarial do Cabo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Pantoja is an experienced fighter with an experience of 33 professional bouts. He is currently signed with the leading professional mixed martial arts promotion, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he holds the flyweight title of the organization.

Alexandre Pantoja started his professional mixed martial arts career by squaring off against Antonio Carlos on July 21, 2007, at Hikari Fight. Pantoja produced a spectacular performance by beating Carlos via first-round submission and started his career in a dominant style. He won his second professional fight in a similar fashion by finishing his opponent, Peterson Malfort in the second round via TKO (punches). Pantoja lost his first fight in his professional career on September 25, 2008, at Watch Out Combat Show 2 against William Vianna who defeated him by split decision.
