Alexandre "The Cannibal" Pantoja is the reigning UFC flyweight champion, who boasts of a professional mixed martial arts record of 28 wins and 5 losses as of December 6, 2024. Before joining the UFC, Pantoja competed in multiple fight promotions, among which he ruled as the RFA and Shooto Brazil Flyweight Champion.
Alexandre Pantoja's Early Career
Alexandre Pantoja started his MMA journey in 2007 in the Brazilian regional circuit when he debuted at Hikari Fight to fight Antonio Carlos, whom he defeated via first-round armbar submission. Pantoja followed it by defeating Peterson Malfort via second-round TKO and signed with WOCS (Watch Out Combat Show). He lost his debut fight at the promotion against William Vianna via split decision.
Pantoja concurrently signed with Shooto Brazil and won his debut fight against Gabriel Wolff at Shooto Brazil 11 via TKO (doctor stoppage). Pantoja won his next four fights in the promotions before suffering a unanimous decision loss to Jussier Formiga. Pantoja bounced back from the defeat and garnered a 7-fight win streak before fighting for the RFA Flyweight Championship against Matt Manzanares.
Alexandre Pantoja finished Matt in the second round via rear-naked choke to capture the title and next fought Damacio Page at AXS TV Fights: RFA vs. Legacy FC 1 for the inaugural AXS TC Flyweight Superfight Championship. Alexandre Pantoja started his TUF journey as the No. 1 ranked fighter and second-pick of Team Cejudo. Pantoja had an impressive run in the tournament. He defeated Brandon Moreno via second-round rear-naked choke submission and Kai Kara France via unanimous decision before crashing out in the semi-finals by a unanimous decision defeat at the hands of Hiromasa Ogikubo. Alexandre Pantoja was eventually signed by the UFC after the season ended.

Alexandre Pantoja made his UFC debut at UFC on Fox: Shevchenko vs. Pena against Eric Shelton. Pantoja and Shelton put on a competitive that resulted in a Pantoja via split decision. He followed it up by defeating Eric Shelton and Neil Seery before fighting in his first UFC pay-per-view at UFC 220 against Dustin Ortiz.
Ortiz outclassed Alexandre Pantoja in the fight and secured a unanimous decision victory to put a blemish on Alexandre's perfect UFC record. Pantoja bounced back from the loss and went on a 3-fight win streak, defeating Brandon Moreno, Ulka Sasaki, and Wilson Reis before facing Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 240. Figueiredo and Pantoja put on a show during the three rounds that ended with Figueiredo winning via unanimous decision and both fighters earning a fight of the night bonus.
He next defeated Matt Schnell in the first round via KO (punches) and lost to Askar Askarov at UFC Fight Night: Figueiredo vs. Benavidez 2. Pantoja found his momentum as he garnered victories over Manel Kape via unanimous decision and Brandon Royval via rear-naked choke submission to earn a shot at the UFC Flyweight Championship but could not fight for the belt because of a knee injury.
Alexandre Pantoja challenged Brandon Moreno for the flyweight belt at UFC 290. After a competitive fight, Pantoja did enough to return home with the flyweight title after securing a split decision victory over Moreno. He faced Brandon Royval at UFC 296 and defended his belt successfully by defeating him via a unanimous decision. Pantoja locked horns with Steve Erceg at UFC 301; he returned successfully as a victor by defeating him by a unanimous decision to defend his championship for the second time.
