Early Life and Career
Askar Askarov was born deaf and can hear 20% of the sounds that a human ear can process. Despite this, Askarov went into combat sports and achieved the rank of International Master of Sports of Russia in Freestyle Ranking and Master of Sports of Russia in Combat Sambo. Askarov won a gold medal at the 2017 Deaflympics and a bronze medal in the 2018 World Deaf Championships.
Askar started his MMA journey in 2013 and made his professional debut at Liga Kavkaz: Grand Umakhan Battle against Shamil Amirov. Askarov submitted Shamil in the second round via rear-naked choke. Askarov continued his debut win momentum and won his next 3-fights in the independent circuit before signing with the ACB(Absolute Championship Berkut) in 2015.

Askarov made his ACB debut at ACB 17 against Vyacheslav Gagiev. Askar won the fight via second-round TKO. He next fought Kirl Medvedovsky at ACB 22 and earned a convincing third-round submission victory via rear-naked choke.
Askar won his next 2-fights in the promotion to get a title shot at the ACB Flyweight Championship against José Maria Tomé. He won the competitive bout in the fifth round via anaconda choke submission to become the ACB Flyweight Champion. Askarov defended the title against Anthony Leone and Rasul Albaskhanov before leaving ACB to join the UFC.
