Randy Moss: A Brief Biography

Randy Moss

Now retired, Moss played in the NFL for 14 long seasons. Moss is widely considered to be in the Mount Rushmore of wide receivers because of the way he could create space, track the field for defensive holes, and use his body and speed to truck away to the end zone.

Even when Moss was a rookie in the NFL, he had the most touchdown receptions with 17. As he furthered his career, he also set the record for most touchdown receptions in a season with 23. When we talk about how talented he was, it is very surprising that Moss never won a championship. In many fan’s eyes, Randy Moss comes under the list of top 10 players that never won a chip.

The only wide receiver that Randy Moss may have failed to cross on the all-time list, may just be Jerry Rice. Apart from Rice, there is no close competitor. Despite not winning a Super Bowl, Moss is a surefire Hall-of-Famer. He had a stellar career, at least individually, and always gave it his all when he was on the field.

Moss did have some off-the-field problems. The most notable one was his problems with marijuana. In the year 2015, Moss spoke with ESPN about it and he said “I smoked weed throughout my career. I smoked weed before games. I smoked weed after games. I smoked weed on my days off. I smoked weed all the time." He did eventually quit smoking after 2012 but this may have also not let him reach his peak.

Randy Moss also grew up alongside Jason Williams, who was a phenomenal NBA player himself playing for mainly the Sacramento Kings. They both grew up together and each held their own, in their respective leagues. Both of these electrifying players never won a championship but are remembered to be extremely talented in their own fields.
